It's a canon-divergence from the animated universe where Raven stays in Jump City and Damian returns as Nightwing. The slow thaw is brutal and beautiful; it’ s less about grand declarations and more about two people learning to trust that their hands won’ t become weapons when they touch. The author captures Damian’ s clinical, precise way of thinking and Raven’ s internalized fear of her own power with devastating clarity. I reread the last scene on the rooftop at least once a month.

Honestly, I'm tired of seeing the 'Damian teaches Raven to feel/be human' arc. It strips her of her own hard-won personhood. The better ones have her teaching him about balance, or them building something entirely new, outside their fathers' shadows.
