He sat beside me, brushing my hair back from my face.
“You scared me,” he admitted quietly. “When I saw you fall…” His voice trailed off, and he shook his head. “I can’t lose you, Tamara.”
“You won’t,” I promised, my hand resting on his cheek. “I’m not going anywhere.”
He leaned down, pressing a soft kiss to my forehead. “Good.”
After a moment of silence, I asked, “What happened after I passed out?”
Dante sighed, his expression turning serious. “The elders finally accepted our union,” he said. “They’ve agreed that we can get married.”
