We were three men, half-drunk and emotionally bruised, sitting in my penthouse like the world had ended and we were waiting for the aftershocks.
Santino was halfway through my dumplings. Dante was halfway through his third drink. I was halfway to a breakdown.
Then Dante cleared his throat.
“I have an announcement.”
Santino looked up, suspicious. “You’re not dying, are you?”
“Worse,” Dante said, grinning. “I’m getting married.”
I blinked.
Santino choked on his drink. “You’re what?”
“Married,” Dante repeated, like it was a word he’d just learned and decided to ruin. “Tying the knot. Locking it down. Putting a ring on it.”
