“If that man ever shows his face around here, tell us! We’ll give him a proper talking to.”
I laughed at her fiery tone. “I’ll let you know if he drops by,” I said, grinning.
“I mean it,” she said, folding her arms. “You don’t treat good women like that. Especially women who save lives!”
I laughed again, touched by their concern.
Then she nudged her husband and said, “Maybe it’s a sign. Sylvia might just be meant for someone new.”
Mr. Daniels brightened up. “Speaking of which, we have a son,” he said, eyes twinkling.
