She drew: ring, storm, promise, dance, forever.
She groaned. “This is too obvious.”
Daniel grinned. “Go on.”
She made up a silly story — about a woman who got caught in a storm, found a ring in the mud, danced with a stranger in the rain, and lived forever in a cottage by the sea.
Daniel clapped. “Beautiful. Deeply unrealistic. But beautiful.”
Then he drew his cards: home, quiet, Tuesday, coffee, always.
He didn’t tease.
Just looked at her.
Then said, “A man wakes up every Tuesday. Makes coffee. Waits. And every time she walks through the door, he thinks: This is home. This is so peaceful and lovely.”
