I've agreed to be Madame Claire Dumont's newest student. The truth of these words hasn't hit me yet. It hasn't struck me yet. I'm still not sure my body is capable of dancing. My ankle hurts and aches. I've worn a mask to hide this pain for a long time. Pain killers no longer work for me. Their effects are for everyone else.

Zander nodded then said, “Every story usually comes from a grain of truth. With that said, it is true that either I, Lex, or Sean is usually with you, and I doubt any of us has seen you with such a guy. Is there anything you could have done or said to make others think that you are with someone that isn’t Sean?” After thinking a moment, Claudia pulled the old picture of Volk out of her purse and showed it to Zander. “Sometimes, when I feel lost or nervous, I pull out this picture and ask it what I should do.” “Mhm and who is that picture of?” Zander asked.

“Tell me more! I never quite got the whole story.” So I told her the whole story. “At New York Dance Academy, we are given two classes, ballet and contemporary. Gabby, Gabriella Gilbert, was the contemporary protégée while I was the ballet expert. We were literally from two different sides of the world, and I’m not saying it geographically but personality wise. She was this outgoing, fun, lively kinda girl that just grabbed everyone’s attention while I was the scared little introvert who shied away from everyone else, too scared to make new friends and prove to be a disappointment to everyone.

“It doesn’t. But I can’t think of that now! I need to dress up!” I focused on my dance pieces. I had one with Sarah and some guys. It was a contemporary piece that told a story of a girl who was in love with a guy all her life, but he didn’t have eyes for her. He wanted another girl who was coveted by many others. I was the coveted girl. Sarah played the lead part. It was a difficult piece with many twists and turns and some lifting. It was acting, not just dancing. We got an encore at the end of our performance. Sarah performed brilliantly, and I was pretty sure I provided a good supporting performance.

Both the sylvester and dexter were taller than the rest of the men that she had ever met. "That's most interesting. But I was no more a mind-reader then than today. When I watched you dancing that day, I saw something else. I saw a new world coming rapidly. More scientific, efficient, yes. A little girl with the most innocent eyes, the innocent brown eyes clearly begging to be loved and cherished but i also saw the torment. That is what I saw. It wasn't really you, what you were doing, I know that. But I saw you and it healed my heart. And I've never forgotten"

If there were any truth to the song I'd just heard, I wondered what her secrets were and how she'd gotten tangled up with U21. Another drink did nothing to soothe the beast inside me, but thankfully, the vibe I put off kept Starr and the other girls away. Luke leaned against the door with his arms crossed over his chest. Luke was tall and thin, with the right amount of muscle for a dancer. His brown hair and green eyes made him look like any other attractive man in the city. Like Devin, Luke was a retired dancer, but instead of modeling he was offered a role as the choreographer for the New York Ballet and had been in this role for the past twenty five years. Somewhere along the way he met Dax and they started up their illicit contracts with the dancers who didn't make enough money from dancing alone. It was an ordinary dancer for a couple of years before Luke learned I needed more money.
