[Cara] “What? Aren't you going to say something?” I grilled out, steeling myself not to break down as the memories from those horrid nights started to come back and haunt me. Those that made me feel so dirty that I couldn't stand being in my own skin. He didn't talk. My phantom has just turned his dark eyes toward me and is staring at me as though he’s seeing nothing but me. Contrition most of all was gleaming, and much like me, it looked as though he had a lot of things he wanted to say to me but couldn't.

His body moved in faint, rhythmic motions over a doll lying beneath him. The doll's features appeared vivid in the flickering candlelight—almond eyes, cherry lips, and a beauty mark beneath the left eye. It looked just like his adoptive sister, Aveline Montclair. Calista bit down on her lower lip until she tasted blood. This was the third time she had stumbled upon this scene in secret. The first time, she bolted from the room. The second, she stayed awake the entire night. But tonight, she felt nothing but numbness.

I had blocked out the memory, but it seemed the past had caught up with me in the most unexpected way and had chosen to punish me for it, years later. Alpha Dan, or rather, Danie, grinned wickedly, basking in my sudden realization. "Ah, the memories of that night have returned, haven't they? That scar you left me with has haunted me for years, and now it's time for you to pay for mailing me so irreversibly. I have dreamed of this moment for so long." I could hardly believe that this was happening. The early years of my life had come back to haunt me in the form of Alpha Dan. My heart sank as I considered the consequences of my choices.

"Not like a dream. Like a memory. I saw them die. I saw my father fall and my mother scream and there was a little boy, my brother, and –" "Easy. Slow down." Damon stroked my hair gently. "Tell me what you saw." I explained the nightmare, every horrible detail. The burning pack house, the wolves with the symbol, my parents fighting and dying, the brother I didn't remember having. "It was a memory," Damon said quietly. "Your mind is unlocking what was hidden. The more you remember, the clearer it will become." "I don't want to remember. It hurts too much." "I know. But maybe you need to remember to understand what's happening now."

The edges of her vision blurred, the cell tilting slightly as though the floor had shifted. “What…what was in the water, Danny?” Her voice cracked as she fought the dizziness curling through her limbs. Danny’s expression softened, almost mockingly, but there was an undercurrent of cruelty that made her stomach knot. “Just enough to make you see things… differently.” Jaiyana gripped the bars for support, trying to anchor herself, but her thoughts scattered like sparks in a storm. The air felt thick, the shadows longer, the room smaller. She realized with a shiver that she was utterly at Danny’s mercy.

“You remember a guy that would come in and see you when you worked? You would only ever really speak to him. No one else held your attention in that place, well apart from Dylan. This guy would order black coffee and …” “French toast with fruit salad on the side with streaky bacon and maple syrup and eggs.” I say, and his smile gets bigger. “So you do remember. I’m Danny. I have watched you for five years, Rebel. I have been in love with you from a far. I knew who you were when you started to protect me. It was never my intention to drag you into this and for that, I’m sorry. Dylan and I want to be with you. It is wrong for us to ask you to choose. We are all the same. We all want the same t

"I loved you but now I don't remember any of those feelings,moments we shared. All I feel is emptiness." She sighed. "I need my family,I need you." He continued to say. "To encourage me,to help me past this phase in my life." "I understand. My fears have been driving me lately. I lost you in the past but I don't want the same fate now." She said in a whispery voice. Daniel hesitated for a while as he stared into her eyes. "I had a memory." Her eyes brightened. "About a lady. Curly Golden Brown hair. I can't tell if it's a dream or not." Daniel walked to one of the couches when the pain started to descend. He couldn't tell the expression on her face but he felt her body dampen.

"I mean of last night, I just remember the outline of the memory but not the details. Those are cleared from my mind." "Did you like what you saw?" Damien replied. "No, I mean not like I saw anything just like I said. So I'm not implying that's its anything, it's just that I dont remember as my vision was blurry and nothing was clear." Damien's hand slowly rose and he rested it on her face, and Raven's breath hitched. She was attracted to him and his hand on her face made her feel warm all over. "Raven?" "Yes?" her voice quivered. She cringed inwards, why couldn't she control herself?
