“Those.” Lauren stopped walking then. She heard Phil Collins’s “In the Air Tonight” blasting over the speaker at the top of the Himalaya ride, drowning out the screams of the riders. The scent of cotton candy filled her nose, sickly sweet. Her body felt stiff, clutched with some unidentifiable emotion. She crouched down to look David in the eye. “David. Are you telling me that Dad is . . . is . . .” She couldn’t get the words out. The inside of her lungs felt like they were frozen over. A ghost? A ghost walking around next to David, talking to him?

He had white hair, snow pale skin and his lips were a sickish blue. “If you kill him…..” She didn’t complete that and Danny just spared her a glance. If she did kill him there was literally nothing she could do, but she considered herself batman. She couldn’t kill and there was no way she would be tried for murder along with treason. She opened the capsule and cut off all power. Danny placed a hand against his chest immediately and tried to concentrate. “You do know what you’re doing right?!” Ronnie snapped. “Of course I do. Now stop talking!!” she hissed and concentrated on the ice cold energy that was strongest in his chest area.

A smile washes over my face as his rough voice floods the space, and I can just imagine his tired, haggard face. “Because not only are you the weapons manufacturer,” he continues, “you’re also a Nero. And you’ve managed to bag the only other Nero in the galaxy they know about. I think you could stand to learn a little humility, Nova.” “Slag, Edan, you’re alive!” I say, relief flooding through me. “Are the others okay?” “What the void, Nova?” Zayne’s voice speaks through the overhead sound system. “You can’t just go and disappear like that and then make a major outing on The Black Hole of Truth. Are you trying to give everyone a slam heart attack?”

“If you could, would you go back to The Hive?” “Yes, only to find one person. There has only been one person in this world who gave me a run for my money. It’s not as important to me anymore, but for a long time all I wanted to do is find the person.” Pausing he rubbed a hand against his jaw. “They call him Phantom.” A laugh left his mouth without any humor, “And people call me Ghost. The irony with the names is not lost on me.” I took a long sip of wine. Not sure how to respond. “It does seem quite clever.”

he snarled in jealousy, his eyes swirling with different colours as he kept his wolf at bay. “Anyway” I continued, “he was a rouge, his name was Danny. He was a few years older than me, but I liked him. I went out on like one date before things got ugly. It turns out he was wanted by another pack; Tyree Moon pack. Danny apparently had killed the Luna of the pack”.

Without work, I have more time to annoy Daemon and the rest of the group. Actually, I should go visit him I know nothing about his new book because I haven’t seen him in a while. I put the list away and snapped my fingers, causing one of my portals to appear in front of me. Just a vortex of swirling crimson that will take me anywhere I want within Auth’s mind. Before I took a step through, I activated my hover boots. Since Damon’s world is new and I haven’t been there yet, my portal will just pop me out anywhere.

I sat frozen, my hand still resting on the cold, smooth porcelain forehead of a nameless doll. I fumbled in my pocket for my phone, the plastic casing slick with the sudden cold sweat of my palms. My thumb found the button, and the LED flashlight cut through the gloom like a scalpel. The beam was harsh, casting long, skeletal shadows that danced wildly across the rafters. I began to scan the rows of my collection, looking for my path back to the attic door. The light swept over the top shelf. Lady Genevieve. The Twins. The Jester.

The most important part for me was checking in with the Phantom Guy in the middle of the night. "I like coming here, Phantom Guy. When I don’t, it feels like something’s missing from my day." I gently ran my hand over the water, making little ripples. "I’m coming here tomorrow after lunch and I’ll be staying all afternoon. You’re probably wondering why I’m showing up during the day for once, but I kinda invited a few friends and I want you to meet them. I don’t know if you’re a busy guy or whatever, but if you are, you don’t have to hang out the whole time. If you can, just drop by and say hi, okay?"

My other hand balled into a fist, as I let my ice cream drop, pulling Danny along towards the exit. “The crazy desire for blood, the presence in the night, the irritated reaction to garlic…” Danny kept on muttering things as we left. I could smell the fear all over him. I turned to him, grabbing his chin and pushing his head up. “What the fuck is your problem?” I asked, as I let go of him almost immediately. “He's a vampire.” He said, his hands shaking like he was about to suffer epilepsy. “Moon Goddess,” I said under my breath, rubbing my face with my palms as I sighed. “There's no way I'd get beaten by a vampire, that thing was way too strong, and his obviously not a vampire.”

Angel began to lie down on the waiting bed next to his mother's patient bed, taking a tilted position looking at the glass wall that showed the night sky. He took a deep breath, still very curious about the mastermind behind the attack on his house. "Could it be Jack? But Jack is a werewolf, not a vampire," muttered Angel with a glare. "So who?" Angel turned around, lying on her side facing her mother. He smiled slightly, looking at his mother who was sleeping with even breathing. "Thank you for sincerely loving me like your own flesh and blood, Mom... I'm lucky to have met you."
