Carla walked into her old room, nothing much had changed. Everything was still as she had left it seven years ago. Her favorite band posters still hung on the wall, her books on body silhouettes and poises were still neatly arranged on the reading table, her bed well laid as it had been when she left. Even though the room seemed untouched, there was not a single speck of dust in it. It was obvious that her grandma had been cleaning it judiciously.

That left just me and Calian heading to the final stop: Waterstones. The moment I stepped inside, the familiar scent of books wrapped around me like a hug. I didn’t waste time - within minutes, I found two titles I’d been hunting down everywhere else. Just as I picked up a third book that caught my attention, I handed the other two to Calian without looking. “Do you read books, Li?” I asked casually. No response. I glanced over my shoulder - he was standing there, looking at me like I’d just grown a second head.

Hi everyone! I would like to say a HUGE thank you to all of you who have read Revenge in Silk up to this point! I know that some (or many) of you may think that this book is too short, but I did that on purpose to keep the main plot going. I hope you don't mind and will still love this book. Silas was the ears of every secret in the New York docks. “Mr. Adrian,” Silas muttered without looking up. “Been a while. Heard you’ve become a saint now. Writing books?” “I need information, Silas,” Dante said, sitting down. “About the incident in Alaska. And about the driver of that black sedan tonight.” Silas set the glass down and looked at him with cloudy eyes. “Alaska’s a dead zone, sir. But there are rumors. Let’s just say… there’s been a ‘change in management.’ And that sedan? Not Virelli.”

Liora waited three nights before opening the book again. Her body still ached sweetly from Draven, but she was curious. She wanted something different this time someone intense, teasing, and a little dangerous in a new way. She opened the glowing book and whispered, “I want someone seductive and playful… but still very dominant. Someone who can tease me until I beg and then fuck me senseless.” The book glowed purple this time. Soft shadows moved across the floor, and a tall figure appeared from the darkness between two tall shelves.

“But this time they are silent.” Silence from an aggressive hedge fund could mean many things. It could mean retreat. It could mean preparation. Or it could mean they were waiting for the right moment. I stood and walked toward the window again. The city lights were beginning to glow across the skyline. “There will be another move,” I said. “You are certain.” “Yes.” “And when it comes.” I watched the reflection of the office lights in the glass. “Then we will respond the same way we always do.” “With calm.”

“So what’s the play? We wait for him to surface? Or we flush him?” Varian thought of the letter, of the card, of the long history braided with gunpowder and silence. Hunting Ciro would not be like hunting the Marcellis, or the Arbiters, or nameless mercenaries. It would be like cutting into his own arm to dig out a shard. But the ledger was clear. Ciro Dane had sold pieces of their world. And no matter what debts bound them once, Varian could not allow betrayal to live. “We hunt,” he said.

Do you understand him?” I shift to get more comfortable and to be able to see Danny with both eyes. He is a prankster and does not discriminate. The wild look in his eyes tells me he is up to something and I probably won’t enjoy being a part of it.
