Everyone wants to share their grown pups’ old things with us, and the gifts make Rosie cry, but in a good way, so I just stack it all up and keep my mouth shut. I turn down the passage to our place. His hands were shaking. I let the silence stretch, watching him squirm. Then I smiled. “Good work.”

He kicks his small legs out, reaching his tiny arms straight out toward me. "Daddy!" Danny squeals.

The house suddenly felt alive, full of chatter and laughter, with Danny at the center of it all. We were halfway through unpacking when I heard a soft little voice floating through the room like a breeze. At first, I thought one of the maids had turned on a speaker. But no... it was Danny. Singing. He stood in the middle of the room, one hand in the air like he was holding a mic, the other on his chest, eyes closed dramatically. 🎵 “When I grow up, I’ll buy mummy a mansion! A big one, with pancakes every moooorning!” 🎵

I wasn’t surprised that Aaron didn’t recognize Danny right away because Danny held his cowboy hat so that it covered most of his face during most of the “routine.” Aaron seemed a little surprised, but who woudn't be surprised seeing another alpha wolf pretending to strip at a bar.
