My vocal cords were paralyzed. The door opened. Lord Darius walked in, smiling that thin, reptile smile. "Relax, Princess," Darius said smoothly, stepping over the shattered porcelain. "It isn't poison. It’s a specialized paralytic derived from the nightshade orchid. You remain fully conscious. You can see. You can hear. But you cannot move. And most importantly..." He leaned down, whispering in my ear. "...you cannot use the Alpha Voice." I glared at him, screaming silently in my mind. You traitor! I will kill you!

Said a female voice. "Daria?" I blinked, trying to clear my sight. “Yes, it’s me. Did you just have a bad dream?" I nodded. I swept my gaze around, realizing that I was in a prison cell. Daria was one of the maids in the Ashwood Pack, and if she was around, it could only mean one thing... I stood up straight and got to my feet right away. “Just stay still for a moment, I’m going to get the healer. You're still not feeling well."

Why did his smile have to drop… I have to admit it made him look cute. I tried to speak, but my voice caught in my throat. I cleared my throat and tried again. "I'm fine," I said. "But... who is this?" The little girl looked up at me and smiled. "I'm Aria," she said. "And you are...?" I forced a smile back at her, trying to compose myself. "I'm Rachel," I said. "Nice to meet you, Aria." Darius smiled at her, ruffling her hair, and I could see the pride in his eyes. "Aria is my daughter," he said. "She's 7 years old."

said a voice in head. “What is that, then?” “A little girl you have in the county. Daria, the goddess of time.”

He said sternly. I swear his voice sounds different from when we talked in real life, he sounds cold and stiff. "Err... Mr. De Leon? It's Brielle Damara." I don't comprehend my voice, I'm so nervous. There's a brief pause inside and I'm quaking. "Ms. Damara. How nice to hear from you." His voice has changed. He's surprised, I think, and he sounds so warm, seductive even. My breath hitches and I bloom. I'm suddenly conscious that Hera Crimson is staring at me with her mouth open and I dart into the bathroom to avoid her unwanted scrutiny.

No one could have protected her back then. She handed the photo of Ragnar to Thompson. Frowning, he considered the picture. “I saw him at the dance club tonight.” Diana's face paled. “Yeah, he pretended to be Argos,my adoptive father, in an email to me.” “You were at the dance club?” Thompson said in surprise. “I—” Diana gave an elusive smile. “What name did you use on your email to me?” “Charlie. I thought maybe there was some kind of conspiracy to free all red wolves. I knew it had to be you, the unnamed girl from the hospital, or at least I'd hoped so.”

I desperately looked between the cracks while hitting the black shell surrounding me, trying to break myself free. I wanted to see his face to confirm who he really was. "Dad? Is it really you? Dad! Answer me, please!" I screamed as my tears kept streaming down uncontrollably as I tried to struggle from the shadows and the dark enclosure containing and restraining me. I was confused about who it was, but I instinctively called him "Dad" because of the way he addressed me. I clearly heard Father Lev's voice, but the language he was using is beyond this realm, and the name he uttered was not Ari but Ahri—I can't be mistaken; I heard it clearly.

Zoey's POV Daria's shrill and high-pitched voice instantly drew everyone's attention, with gazes focusing on me like spotlights. I looked at Madam Madox, my expression earnest as I said, "I did not plagiarize. This is my design." Daria let out a sneer, her tone filled with disdain and contempt, saying, "The design is exactly the same. Who would believe you didn't plagiarize? Ariana is a senior designer at Born Beauty! You've only been at Born Beauty for a month. What kind of decent work could you have designed? Zoey, apologize to Madam Madox right away. Danika Williams I called Elizabeth as I started getting ready but I was a mess. I didn’t understand what was appropriate to wear, how much makeup was appropriate to apply or how high my shoes can be. I think it’s more appropriate for me to hear whatever you have to say.” Lyka shifted uncomfortably on her feet. She glanced at her father, then back at her mother. Her hands were trembling slightly as she clutched her phone.
