LOGINMonths had blurred into a stretch of survival. I was no longer the girl who once dreamed of just wolf and pack movies and the simple life on the edge of the Silver Sword Pack’s territory. I was now a shadow. thin, rough, and hollow.
The woods were hitting me daily.
My feet were bleeding. My stomach was hitting me from the berries I was feeding on every day and foreign roots. The cold was sinking deep into my bones and sometimes, I even forgot what warmth was like.
The only thing that kept me from completely breaking up was Nyx—my inner wolf. Her voice grew louder every day with lonely nights, a sure presence that remained with me.
I tried to run farther from the Silver Sword pack many more times than I could count, but fear always dragged me back. Even facing Damon and his Betas was scaring me more than hunger was. .
That evening, fatigue finally won. I collapsed on a patch of dry grass near a rushing waterfall, too tired to even gather wood for a fire.
I gnashed my teeth violently.
“The cave is a little farther behind the falls,” Nyx whispered to me, her voice cool but firm as it rang in my head. “You will be cold in it, but it can keep you.”
“I’m just too tired to move,” I snapped, curling into a ball. “Just… let me rest.”
“Rest, then. Believe you can be safe,” Nyx replied, her tone now softer than mine had been in weeks.
I slipped into a restless sleep, dreaming of running with a pack that actually wanted me, of our bodies pressed close, of the mating bond that didn’t end in rejection.
I was having nightmares and the new warmth pulled me awake.
The weak morning light flashing through the cave mouth, solid and hot, was pressing against my back. A heavy arm pressed over my hip. My eyes snapped open.
A man lay beside me. It was completely naked.
His skin was very thick, every muscle were strong and sharp, like something formed by the wild itself. His scent overwhelmed me instantly. The fresh rain fell on wind, rain and the raw, commanding power.
Suddenly, Nyx stirred hard in my chest, letting out a low sound I had never heard from her before.
I was almost terrified.
Instead, my body leaned toward him, starving for the touch of so many months of nothing but the growl, his strict face and silence.
His deep blue eyes—nothing like the shining eyes of the Silver Sword Pack, fixed on mine. They reminded me of the old glaciers, clear and dangerous.
“Who… who are you?” My voice came out rough and cracked.
He smiled, slow and sure, as if he had been waiting for this moment his entire life. One large hand was tracing the curve of my hip with full calm.
“I’ve found you, little one,” he murmured, his voice a deep rumble that was beating hard on my chest. “You’ve been so cold and lonely. Even your scent was covering towards me—a wolf abandoned… but not broken.”
Before I could have another question, he leaned in and kissed me.
It wasn’t reluctance that kept my lips gummed with his, waiting.
It was deep, demanding, and consuming. His lips touched mine with a kind of hunger that could combat the empty belly I had carried for months. My mind turned with confusion and the pain from Damon’s rejection, but my body was really starving and aching—betrayed me completely.
Nyx howled inside me, urging me closer.
It was indeed nothing like the sweet and tight touches I had once shared with Damon. It was raw and sweet. A desperate affirmation that I was still alive, a woman, capable of feeling something different from pain and cold.
He pulled back just enough to growl against my lips, his voice full of need and desire.. “Tell me you want this.”
I didn’t think so. I only felt it inside of me. “Yes,” I gasped. “Please… I need…”
He was walking with certainty, absorbing all of my body, dipping his c*ck into my p*ssy. Every thrust was driving away the cold and cravings and the crushing loneliness in the woods. I embraced him with despair, my nails digging into his broad shoulders, soft moans echoing off the cave walls as pleasure was brewing inside me like a storm.
When the c*m finally formed on us, I fell on his arms, the warmth flooding my veins like real fire.
For the first time in months, the cold inside me stopped.
This man was sweet. Maybe he was my mate and he would change everything about me.
Afterward, I lay shaking against his chest, trying to catch my breath. His fingers went through my rough, unkempt hair.
“I enjoyed you, mate,” he whispered, his deep blue eyes soft yet really possessive. “You are stronger than you realize, Annie. Sleep now and regain your strength.”
His words cut through the warmth I was feeling in my body. I tried to push myself up, but my limbs were hard as stone. “Wait… what is your name? What pack do you belong to?”
He snickered, the sound of his voice low and hitting deep on my chest. “Not yet, little wolf. When the time is right, I’ll take what’s mine.” He pasted another soft kiss on my forehead. “Be safe. Your life is about to change now.”
I wanted to argue, to ask for what he meant, but the fatigue and the strange, suiting warmth of his body pulled me under.
I slept.
When I woke up again, the cave was empty.
The spot beside me had gone cold, but his scent was still on my skin. It smelt rain, and the power of the woods.
I sat up slowly and froze.
A dark blue mark, shaped like a wolf’s print, stained the skin of my inner thigh. It was pulsed with faint warmth.
Then the nausea hit me hard afterwards.
I couldn’t walk to the part of the cave before my stomach was empty of food. When the heaviness finally stopped, I tapped my hand over my belly, and my eyes were full of fear and shock.
I was shocked.
I was pregnant.
I was alone and banished in the woods. With nothing, but the rags and the woods around me.
And yet… something inside me felt different and it meant another form of strength was coming from me.
I had woken up early. My heart still burned from the heat of s*x with Damon last night. My pups were sleeping peacefully beside me, their small chests were heaving up and down as if they had already grown into an Alpha.I kissed their heads softly and got up from the bed.Scarlett was waiting for me at the door. “Today we will find out the truth,” she whispered. “Even before Cassandra makes her move.”“Let us leave your twin pups with an old Omega woman who once owed my mother a favour.”Scarlett held my hand and led me through the path to an old building. I saw the pack archives. The door sounded loud as I pushed it open. Dust floated with the thin rays of sunlight that spread over the house.“Quick,” Scarlett said, snapping her fingers. “Honestly… we really do not have much time".Afterwards, she pulled an old book from the shelf, her cracked hands were even shaking as she opened it.My father’s name was clearly written on the cover. WOLFE.Then she sat me down again. “Daughter… you
The whole pack stood in the square, watching in silence. Kael stood outside the gates, his blue eyes burning into me. Damon stood at my side, his body tight with anger.I stepped forward, heart pounding. My voice came out stronger than I expected.“I am not a prize for either of you to fight overThe crowd whispered. Cassandra’s face twisted with hate.I looked straight at Damon first. “You rejected me on my birthday. You slept with her,” I point at Cassandra, “then threw me into the woods to die. Now you want me back because I returned with power?”Damon’s golden eyes looked pained. He spoke loud enough for everyone to hear. “I was wrong. Cassandra lied to me. She fed me stories about threats to the pack. I let pride and fear control me. I take back the rejection. Annie is not an Omega. She is my true mate.”Gasps spread through the crowd. Scarlett smiled through tears. Cassandra looked ready to kill.I turned to Kael. “You found me when I was broken. You gave me safety and pups. But
The days in the Omega quarters were still passing by slowly and by time. I kept my head down during the day, scrubbing floors and washing clothes like a good little Omega. But, every night I trained in the woods with Nyx to keep my strength growing intact. My body kept growing stronger. My shift came faster. I could feel the power forming inside me like a storm about to burst.“Do you remember,” Nyx said. “Laman got angry at a toy and his tiny fist cracked the wooden crib in half.”“I know…”“They need an Alpha Dad.It was true.I even had to hide the broken pieces before anyone could see him.Protecting my two pups was what mattered to me now.Leo and Laman were only eight months old, but they were just shifting too fast. I was surprised that even their eyes flashed deep blue and silver. They were growling like full grown Alphas. Mom we want to eat… we want to sleep…”My heart skipped for fear.I walked outside to spread some clothes and I ran in immediately.Laman stood on the floor
I could not sleep that night. The thin mattress was hard like a stone under my head. I carried Leo and Laman, and their small bodies felt warm and heavy with power at the same time on my hands.Every few minutes, one of them would growl in their sleep. The sound they made was a bit scary. They were growing too fast and too strong.Scarlett came in just before sunrise. She slipped into the room like a shadow. As soon as she saw me, her eyes drenched with tears. She pulled me into a tight hug without saying a word at first.“Annie, my daughter!” She said, pulling me even tighter to herself.“Mom,” I whispered, my voice cracking. “I thought I would never see you again.”She held my face in both hands and stared at me from my head to my toe. “You are different now.Why wouldn’t you see me again? What happened to you out there, Annie?”I was speaking to her in a very calm voice. The memories started coming again… the cold woods, the cave, the blue-eyed stranger, the night he f*ck*d me, the
I was just Annie, but I had eyes. The journey back to Silver Sword territory took exactly three long days. Every step was like a mountain to crush. My twins, Leo and Laman, were only eight months old, and they already had too much power even with their small bodies.Very quickly in the morning, I strapped tight against my chest and back in soft cloth slings.Their warmth pressed into my skin, but their strong Alpha scent was filling me up.I applied herbs to their clothes instantly, to keep them safe from danger. My legs were aching at the same time. My back was burning as well, but I still kept moving.Nyx was calm inside me, only speaking whenever I needed her direction. “Left at the old tree,” she would whisper. “Stay downwind.” Her voice gave me strength when fear tried to slow me down.”As the tall gates of the Silver Sword Pack finally appeared through the trees, my heart began to pound hard. I had to even stop at the side of the woods, stay and stare at the place where I got ba
A burning pain crossed through me, forcing a painful shout from my throat. My body was uncontrollably shaky. It felt as if I was being torn in half."Push, my brave girl! Push for your white pups!"The voice was my mother's. Mom? White pups?I forced my eyes open. I wasn't in the damp cave anymore. I was in a clean, makeshift room, lying on a soft bed. My mother was seated by my side, her face soaked with tears and stress, but alight with something that looked like hope. A fat, elderly woman I didn't recognise, the Wolf Doctor judging by the scent that smelled of medicine, was standing over me."Annie, you are awake! You dare not sleep, dear. The second one is on the way!" my mother exclaimed, stroking my forehead. The second one. I groaned, the pain returning with a heart of revenge. I felt Nyx sighing heavily, saying nothing. One final, strong push, and finally, the pain receded, replaced by an overwhelming peace, strange in its way.The Wolf Doctor began rejoicing over me. "Two hea
