I pushed the door open slowly. The room was large, but cozy, filled with soft armchairs, bookshelves, and a large window looking out onto the sprawling gardens. Caden was sitting in a deep leather armchair by the window, reading a book. He looked completely at ease, like he was just waiting for a friend.

He closed his book slowly, placing it on a small table beside him. Then he stood up. He didn't rush. Every movement was deliberate, controlled. He walked towards me, and with each step, the room felt smaller.
