Retreating into shadow. Click. A faint sound. Barely audible. The blood vessel along the side of his neck finally ruptured. Dark blood slid downward. And beneath his collar— something began growing. Golden-black vines. Twisting. Spreading. Crawling upward across his throat. Toward a face already consumed by murderous intent.

'What is this? I rushed towards the bathroom and stopped dead in my track as I saw the marks. It started as something that looked like a cursive C at the top of my breast and continued in snaked patterns as a v up around my neck and then in a small v down behind my neck.
