[Selene's POV] The raw power vibrated through every cell of her new form. It was a symphony of destructive energy, a crescendo of untamed might. Fur sleek as midnight, absorbing every sliver of light, muscles taut with unleashed strength, and eyes burning with an inner silver fire that felt like liquid moonlight. She was the shadow wolf, a creature born of the forest's ancient magic and her own searing, unyielding rage.

Chaos! Buildings were on fire, arrows decorated the air, bodies were everywhere, war cries and horrified screams sounded like a trumpet from the sky. Shadow warriors swarmed the clearing like a tide of darkness, featureless beings that shimmered like oil under moonlight, striking with unnatural speed. “Hold your positions!” Thane’s voice boomed across the chaos. He was in his wolf form, massive, silver-black, claws dripping with blood. He tore through a cluster of shadows, his growl shaking the ground. “Don’t give them an inch!”

The two beasts clashed, each trying to dominate the other, their growls filling the air like thunder. Her mind struggled to process what was happening. The large creature—she couldn’t tell what it was at first—was defending her. Its dark fur shimmered under the moonlight as it used its massive body to shield her from the jaguar’s deadly claws. Catherine’s heart pounded in her chest as she watched, her breath caught in her throat. The battle was fierce, both animals snapping and snarling, their claws slashing through the air with deadly precision.

I have enemies everywhere and some of them are in disguise of friends, Vera is doing nothing but making it difficult for me. How do I make her understand that running away will not help her. But neither were our mates, and something told me wherever they were, the Dark Fae would be also. Kat plowed her way through the battling wolves, using her powers to easily defeat our enemies. It saddened me to think these wolves were losing their lives because they were being compelled to fight against their will. But I knew it was them or us. I repeated that to myself as I barreled into a wolf, knocking it off one of our warriors and ripping its throat out. “Get the fuck away from her!” Someone roared, the southern accent unmistakably belonging to Dillon.

Dozens of shadowy figures appeared behind Charlie-vampire warriors, their eyes glowing like embers, their fangs catching the dim light. They stood in eerie silence, waiting for their king's command. Jason took a step forward, his wolf instincts screaming at him to shift. "If it's war you want, vampire, then it's war you'll get. But know this-Moon Crest will never fall." Charlie chuckled darkly. "We shall see, Alpha." With a snap of his fingers, the mist thickened around him and his warriors. Their forms began to fade, their bodies dissolving into the night like smoke.

Hayward looked over at the princess again, smiling to himself. At least she's pretty. That'll make this more pleasant. "If you encountered some of these beasts, you might be less so," she told him, though she doubted he'd ever seen anything of the sort. The lush forests and mountains were an ideal habitat for many types of animals but especially large cats, five times the weight of a human or elf and ridiculously strong. Their muscular bodies covered in thick fur would send a chill into the heart of someone who had never encountered them, but he would get to see one soon enough.

"Scarlett, listen to me. Kill these useless cats, and we'd have six slots. Then we could raise more beasts. We'd be invincible." I wouldn't yield. Chest puffed out, I tried to bluff. "Who said they can't protect me? The eldest isn't blind, the second isn't crippled. They're fine cats." "Anyway," I added, "if you so much as touch them today, you'll regret it!" Dominic stared at me wide-eyed, like I'd gone insane. He hurled the cat bundle to the ground with a thud and cursed, "They're not blind! Only I must be blind to have picked a fool like you! We're done. Don't even think about begging me when the apocalypse hits, you idiot."
