It was dark, with only two pairs of red glowing eyes showing from it.
I tilted my head, frowning. My stomach twisted, unsettled.
“Strange,” I whispered.
Zara’s voice stirred in my head, low and uneasy. “Don’t look at it too long, Octavia.”
“Why not?” I asked her silently.
“What do you mean, why not? Because it doesn't feel right, Octavia. You just said it yourself, it feels strange. Can’t you feel it? It’s not just paint. Whoever made this clearly poured something else into it. Something dark.” she whispered as if she actually believed some could hear her all the way from inside my head.
