I reached out and opened the door, revealing the dark office of Julia peters. My heart skipped a beat. I hadn't realised in my fear the day before that the office was unnaturally dark. The only light available was from a lantern at the farthest corner of the room. I thought someone like that should be able to afford to buy thousands of bulbs and chandeliers. I shrugged and looked around the room then I noticed a movement from the corner of my eyes and there she was. Seated in her chair, staring at me. No not me, Roddy.

The heavy main door of Caden's mansion clicked shut behind me. The sound didn't offer freedom; it sealed me into a new kind of prison. The bright afternoon sun felt too harsh, mocking the darkness that had just settled deep inside me. I was outside, yes, but no longer my own. The air felt thick, heavy with the weight of the deal. My limbs felt weak, like every bone had turned to water. I had agreed. I had sold myself, not just for money now, but for Caden’s sinister game.

The refusal to let the darkness win. A shuddering sigh escaped him. He closed his eyes for a moment, leaning heavily against me. I just stand there, stunned, lips burning, mind blank. When he pulls back, his eyes aren’t green anymore. They’re dark. Not shadow-dark. Wolf-dark. The kind of dark that means he’s barely holding his wolf by the throat. “Breathe,” he says—and damn him, there’s a smirk there.

I must admit, the harmony between Gerard Butler's and Patrick Wilson's voices was quite beautiful.

My vision darkened. "Ahhh!"

He walked back and I didn't look back and went to change. The next morning, he was nowhere to be seen when I woke up so I continued with my daily routine. I went for a jog and went shopping afterwhile. Something caught my attention on the table of the library, it was a card, his card. There was a note along with the card, saying something along the lines of ‘’use this card if you want to buy anything. rowan.’’ I took a pen and wrote ‘’I don't need your money. You can shove it up your ass,with a smiley emoji alongside.’’ Maybe I exaggerated but he deserved it for pissing me off and breaking my heart, it's only fair.

My eyes fall shut, trying to keep the tears at bay. “I accepted the path of darkness for myself. I’m a vampire,” Lucas continues. “That’s what we are. That’s what’s inside of us. Darkness.” He slips one hand under me, and my heart swells in my chest. “I believed I could never be anything but dark. I let it consume me, and I told myself that’s how things were meant to be. For over a thousand years I clung onto that false truth…and then I met you.” A tear rolls down my cheek.

Chapter 62: Jarrel’s Darkness The vast, opulent room was shrouded in shadows, the flickering candlelight casting eerie shapes on the walls. Jarrel lay alone on his king-sized bed of a grand oak, his posture rigid, as if the weight of his own darkness had crystallized into a physical burden. The cool night breeze whispered through the slightly ajar window, bringing with it the distant, mournful cries of the night creatures. Yet, the room was still, save for the rhythmic ticking of a clock on the wall—a cruel reminder of the passage of time and the heavy price he had paid for it.

Once more I let my eyes close trying to find the moment I once had with Jen. But words didn't come, all that came to me was the sound of a heartbeat, steady and slow. I had nothing to lose so I focused on that and followed it like breadcrumbs. The closer I got the darker it felt, like I was being suffocated by it as it continued to grow around me. Pushing forward was all I could do so I ignored it as best I could seeking out this sound. This was different from Jen in so many ways the words that flowed into me were like a desire until they burst free. " A lonely heart shrouded in darkness seeking a mother's love. Losing itself slowly in the pursuit of light it hasn't tasted in so long... It's
