When she raised the knife again, I finally said in a cold and unwavering voice, “No matter what you do, we’re nothing but strangers now. “Even if you die right here in front of me, with the cameras as witnesses, it won’t matter to me!” Her eyes widened with despair, searching my face for even a flicker of emotion. However, there was nothing—not anger, not hatred, not even pity. Still unwilling to give up, she collapsed to her knees, clutching my leg like I was her last lifeline. Before she could speak again, Jasmine walked in. She took one glance at the scene and shot me an unreadable look. Then, she smirked.

Dawn’s POV: I hoped that I was dead, and that this immense peace I felt was from the inside. But it wasn’t, and I wasn’t dead. When I woke up, I realized that it was now late at night and that I was still on the damp floor of the dungeon and in the position I’d been in earlier. I blinked slowly as I tried to focus on what was happening around me but nothing was, and while the three burly men were nowhere to be found, I couldn’t help but be afraid, afraid that they might return.

“If you’re looking for the young Autumn, well she died with her family. She died when the people whom she believed would not leave her left. So stop looking out for her. She will no longer return.” His mood turned serious. “You were not the only one who underwent something. Maddox and I had experienced something which we were not allowed to divulge.” I bit the inside of my cheeks to stop myself from asking. I should maintain my emotional distance between the alpha and me. Pretend that anything that he said did not interest me at all. “Save it, Alpha Hugh. Nothing will change my mind. I would've gotten you, at least, a donut or something, but I didn't know if you already ate breakfast.” His sheepish smile was so cute, I couldn't stop myself from smiling right back. “Thank you, really. I did have breakfast, but caffeine should work if I'm going to survive another day in that office.” I replied, raising my coffee in the air. Ethan chuckled and took a sip of his coffee. “Right? I'm surprised people haven't already resigned from their jobs considering Mr Falana is as ruthless as he is.” He pulled out and started the drive to work.

I watched as he tried to get me off of him maybe he had thought he could stand a chance to hit me back or probably stand a chance to fight like a man but I had no strength for such mediocre child’s play. I wanted him to bleed and die just like Darius. He kept struggling while I continued sinking my claws deep into him and watched as the light in his eyes slowly died. And then I muttered “send my regards to him for me dear big brother” Then the moment my claws made contact with his bone I snapped it and he stilled.
