Then another and another. Across the screens, the lights died not from destruction but from choice. The founder’s smile disappeared completely. “You would put the world into darkness,” he whispered. The Midnight Hotel

The Midnight Hotel

"...I remember thinking they would survive longer than any of us." "So there really was someone else," Moira said quietly. Adrian nodded. "I don't know their name anymore." The hostess's smile slowly widened. "You are remembering faster than expected." Before anyone could ask what she meant, every candle inside the ballroom went out at the exact same time. Darkness swallowed the room for only a heartbeat before a single spotlight illuminated the empty chair between Winona and Adrian. It wasn't empty anymore, someone was sitting there. But no matter how hard Winona tried to focus on the figure's face, her mind refused to see it.

The Day She Stopped Waiting

The Day She Stopped Waiting

The Watchers in the Dark The fire was gone. One second it burned. The next— darkness. Complete darkness. Nobody moved. Nobody breathed. Then Peanut grabbed Ava's arm. Immediately. Hard. Very hard. Honestly? Fair. The situation deserved panic. Reasonable honestly. Then outside— something walked across the shoreline. Slow. Heavy. Crunch. Crunch. Crunch. The sound echoed through the ruined palace. Then Thomas raised the spear. Blue light flooded the room.

10 chapters in and I hope it’s second chance book. I love a good “leaving my shitty husband for a better man” plot but sometimes I love a good “I need to get my wife back” plot as well. Sometimes I want to read about how a relationship was pulled back from the brink and I feel this is goi to be it.

Dawn At Night

Dawn At Night

The Black Cliff

The Black Cliff

She could walk in absolute darkness and never stumble. The usual warmth radiated from the bowl, steam rose into the air, blurring the boundaries between the shore and the sea. Throwing the dress on the rocks, Nocté dived into the warming pit. Two men appeared from behind the rocks. Moving their half-fins half-legs, the newts watched the exile. Her delinquency was much heavier than theirs.

The Darkest Night

The Darkest Night

He wasn’t smiling now. “OK?” I asked, squeezing my arm around his waist tighter. I couldn’t keep the smile off of my face. I loved him so much that it was almost painful. He gulped and nodded, pushing open the door. I looked in to see the room was in semi darkness. There were hundreds of little candles all scattered around, making the room flicker and look beautiful, the candles were reflected in the wall of mirrors. There were red and pink balloons floating along every single inch of the ceiling and some tied to the backs of chairs. There were bunches of red roses everywhere, red and pink rose petals scattered all over the wooden floor. It was beautiful.

The Light To His Darkness

The Light To His Darkness

LUNA'S POV I looked at myself in the mirror. I was different from the usual girls you'll see in New York. I had pure black hair, a round face with big gray eyes, a small nose, and a curvy shape. I was very well endowed but even though I was body confident, I got a lot of unwanted attention. I looked at the time and realized I was late. I bolted out of the house and ran as fast as I could. I couldn't wait for the bus and my workplace was just ten minutes away.

One could tell it was dangerous. Suddenly two shadows emerged from the dark five steps from where she stood. She step back watching the two shadows cautiously. "No!" One of the shadows cried. Its voice covered with fear. The other shadow took out something that looks like a gun and pointed it at the other one. "This is my parting gift for you." The shadow whispered before pulling the trigger. A loud bang echoed in the whole place, taking away the stillness of the night.

Frequently Asked Questions

The core conflict in 'Darkness at Noon' is the brutal clash between individual morality and totalitarian ideology. Rubashov, the protagonist, is a loyal communist who gets purged by the very system he helped build. The novel shows his internal battle as he’s forced to confess to crimes he didn’t commit. The real tension isn’t just physical imprisonment but the psychological torture of betraying his own ideals. The state demands complete submission, rewriting history and facts to suit its narrative. Rubashov’s struggle represents the larger tragedy of revolutionary idealism corrupted into oppressive dogma. His final moments reveal the cost of blind loyalty to a system that devours its own.
