Darren chuckled. "Please don't be so formal. Call me Darren." Sarah nodded her head before turning to her mother who was still confused by the exchange of the duo. "Mom, he's Darren Auger. He's a major investor of my college and he once visited the place so I assisted him." Easter finally nodded understanding why Sarah knew him. She thought he was just Sebastian's friend but didn't know he knew her daughter as well. "Dear, you should eat something." Easter said to Darren who was just simply drinking wine while gazing at the temptress in silence making him smile at her. He looked slightly drunk which didn't go unnoticed by Sarah.

I couldn't expect less from a gathering hosted by a man as big as René himself. I adjusted my cufflinks, preparing myself to endure the night, when a familiar voice cut my peace from behind. His presence seems to fill the entire room. It is not just his size, it is the power that radiates from his eyes when they land on mine. “You must be Darren.” Darren blinked. “Uh…yes. And you’re…?” “Her boss,” Alton replied. The words landed like dropped plates. Red almost screamed. Darren’s eyes widened further, snapping toward her and back to Alton. “Her boss? At your apartment? At eleven-thirty at night?” Red felt her throat close. “Darren, it’s not what it…” “Why are you here?” Darren demanded, turning to Alton. Alton didn’t answer. He didn’t even shift. He watched Darren with a cool, observant gaze that made Darren straighten, suddenly self-conscious in his wrinkled casual shirt and tired eyes.

“Nothing much. Let's just say that I can be very… persuasive.” “You're a psychopath,” I gritted out. A cold chuckle tore through his throat. “I merely know what I want, and right now, I want you and the project written in your sweet little head.” “You will never get it!” I roared. He snorted. “And who is going to stop me? Darren Knight?” I glared at him. “He will be here soon. He will take his men and—” “Darren is dead,” Callan announced calmly before curling his lips into a grim smirk. “He had… a little accident on the way here.”
