I didn’t say anything, I just went outside and found the man standing by the foyer huffing and buffing, our hospitality didn’t suit home, I see, too bad. I took a good look at the man, this was the first time I had seen him. I knew Franco had an older brother, but he always kept to himself and didn’t show up or participate in the business. The man was older, bigger, and uglier than Franco. He wasn’t that tall, but he looked strong for sure. “Senor Tomas, to what I owe the pleasure? It is an honor to meet you here; I’m sorry about what happened to your brother.”

That evening, Isaac and I went home and found Aadi cooking dinner. I asked, “How are things with you? You look a tad bothered.” Aadi answered, “Not really bothered. Not mad either.” I laughed, “Okay. So, what’s the problem?” She answered, “Franco’s brother got here at around eleven this morning. As soon as they got out of the truck, Ben started sniffing the air and he hasn’t been able to stop. Franco has been so excited about it that he forgot to run to the store for me. I’m craving cookies and cream ice cream. I really wanted that for dessert.”

CARMEN “What are you talking about?” Dave asked, staring at his father with as much confusion as I felt. Dave Wilmer couldn’t possibly be my stepbrother; not after what had happened between us. How could I live under the same roof as him? I could barely even look into his eyes without the guilt and shame, the reminder of how I had neglected my father, eating away at me. “I’m sorry we couldn’t talk about this sooner, son.” Steve grinned as he explained to his son. “Aren’t you happy? You’re the one who has always worried about me, always advising me against spending the rest of my days alone.”

Dave ran into the room and with a bow, he greeted; “Boss!” “Is your little brother still living with you and helping with a few hacking stuff?” Vincent asked, his voice filled with a certain curiosity. Dave gazed strangely at his boss, wondering why he would suddenly gain interest in a kid. “Yes, my brother is with me,” Dave replied. “Boss, I'm sorry for being inquisitive, but why are you suddenly interested in my brother? Are you planning to adopt him?” Vincent burst into laughter as he heard Dave's words. He wasn't planning to have any kids, and he doubted if he would have any till his death.

Franco widened his eyes, not expecting him to make such a big deal. Threatening the heir to remove them from their position had always been a thing, but he hadn’t expected Christian to really go through with it. “Have you discussed it with Dario? Your brothers?” He asked, baffled. “Serena?” “Oh, don’t pretend like you care about her now.” Christian gave Franco a look, daring him to mention her again. Franco swallowed his breath. “I know things are hard on you, and I know I shouldn’t have told you to choose, but please don’t bail on everyone.” He pushed his shoulder. “You’re surely not thinking about letting your old grandpa get out of retirement, right?”
