I opened my eyes fully and looked down at the sweet child peeking sleepily up at me. "You hurted my daddy," Miguel mumbled in confusion. My heart dropped and I shook my head. I wasn't completely responsible for their deaths. I mean their father died in the stupid Iraq war and their blonde haired mother hung herself after getting the news. I dealt with death but not the way the individual died, that was solely on those fate bitches. "This is bullshit, let's go, don't ever forget about me little man, we will meet again in the future, this I swear," I growled. I moved him off me, patting his head sweetly and hurried past Maria cursing me while holding a cross up at me.

At some point the family channel switched itself on in the other room. I heard the announcer say Leo DeLuca had completed his private evaluation successfully, and that Dante Moretti had stayed at his side the entire time and secured emergency medication when it mattered. I shut it off. Vivian's courier arrived forty minutes later. The injection steadied Nico's breathing within minutes. He stayed in my arms, pale and quiet, until he finally looked up at me. "Did Dad say no?" I did not answer. He already understood. "Then let's go," he said. "I don't want to wait anymore."

“She was currently under arrest for attempting to murder her sister!” Everyone gasped. The music blared even louder and enjoyment resumed like he hadn't talked. I stood there and watched the bad men plot my family's downfall, they set the medical reports to the large projector secretly, and informed their Alpha.

I watch as he stretches the paper for me to see, and I can see the words that were written on the paper. "Discover your identity, find out who you truly are, and don't let my sacrifice end up in vain." I read it aloud, and my dad shook his head in approval. Right in front of my eyes, I watched as his body started dissolving, and the room started crumbling. "There won't be another chance, Rey Reed of Smith." My dad yelled at me, and he vanished from sight.

I was breathing so fast and heavily, my breath felt hot under my nostrils. I had felt the eerie presence of death all night, but not for my family, for me instead. I was the only one that was supposed to die tonight, not them, not my innocent family. I hadn’t bargained for this or even considered the possibility of it. Of course, I knew Liam was wicked and didn’t mind killing anyone just to get me, but it never crossed my mind that he would go this far. As far as wiping out my family, my innocent brother, my mother who only wanted to live a peaceful life.
