The headlines were everywhere, accompanied by grainy images of the disfigured body. Brayden sat in his office, watching the news on a large screen. The corner of his lips twitched slightly as he read the headlines. Celeste was officially dead. For now, she was safe. And they had bought themselves just enough time to plan their next move.

"Speaking of. Mir-I mean Saint should be there." The mention of Saint returned Death's expression to normal. "Yeah she should be." Death sat up and looked Lucifer in the eyes. "I wonder if she's okay? Mentally I mean, obviously I have no worries about her physical health." Lucifer grinned. "She is the reason we don't use "If it bleeds you can kill it." anymore." The two shared a laugh. Lucifer realized that whatever was going on with Death wasn't going away easily. He decided that they had planned enough for now. He shifted the conversation to more casual topics.

"Yeah, and I'm Demeter now get out before I call the cops," I glance back over at my father as he lies in a pool of his blood.

I looked at Miguel and rolled my eyes, I mean what could have happened in a couple weeks. "You both have been gone three years, your father agreed reluctantly to punish you for killing the human Jorge, sorry for your three losses," Destiny's voice bellowed around us both, fading as she disappeared. Miguel eyed me curiously and I shuddered as a chill ran up my back. My Death signals were flashing erratically, this wasn't good.

I whisper. He walked to the adjacent ward and opened the door, but there was no sign of me. Frowning, he went to the nurses' station. "Where is patient 807? She just had kidney surgery. She shouldn't be moving around." The nurse checked the computer and replied calmly, "Patient 807, Jocelyn Pryce… was declared deceased at 5:20 p.m. this afternoon."

No one cared. My corpse was not a pretty sight. My eyes were wide, unseeing, and there was a large hole in my stomach. My legs were twisted together. One of my arms was flung by the side of the road. My legs were useless now. I was ugly. No wonder the little girl cried. Floating in the air, I stared at my mutilated corpse.

Death. Everyone was about to die.
