"Her baby wasn't healthy," Alice shot back, tilting her head defiantly. "The doctor said it would have Down syndrome, so it's better it didn't make it! How's that my fault?"
Helena let out a big sigh from the back seat. "I can't tell if this girl's a good or bad one."
Grandma reached over and stroked my hair, saying, "Zoe's the good one."
