The smoke disappeared into the air. The candles and incenses were lit on the table to create a flicker in the breeze blowing through the kitchen. She placed the crystals in the oven. Red for blood, fire, violence, health and danger. Orange for change and yellow for mourning. Black for evil and dark. She began stirring the crystals in the oven with a wooden spoon as she chanted a spell. The oven became so hot the spoon began to catch fire. She reached over to the sink and filled a glass with water. She propelled the glass of water onto the fire. The steam spelled out Slaughter Hill. The spell was completed.

He opened another small door, and Caitlin had to duck as she walked through the opening. This door opened into a grand room, lit by dozens of torches, with high arched ceilings, and stained-glass. It looked like a chapel, and at the end was a large, shining gold altar, guarded by two vampire soldiers, dressed in red, who stood at attention. Caitlin wondered what could be so valuable and precious that two guards would have to stand watch over it at all times. She wondered if it was the second half of the torn page. As they approached it, her turned to her, “Your clue?” the vampire prodded.

The book spoke of a long-forgotten prophecy, passed down through generations from a thousand years ago when it was written, after the death of the guardians of the dark world. The first chapter spoke of dire consequences that would befall a witch who by any chance dared to interact with a devil in whichever situation, and if by any chance that were to happen then the witch had to be taken back to the dark world and be imprisoned in a dungeon full of poisonous insects as a punishment to prevent future interaction between the two kinds. The words seemed to leap off the page, filling the room with an eerie sense of foreboding.
