And Jacob was one. However, just as Xenon sent in more bodyguards, someone stabbed Jacob at his calf, and the cut was so deep that he staggered and fell over. Immediately, a few guys jumped at him. Xenon reacted quickly. He threw a high kick at one of the guy's heads and snatched the knife off his hand just before he fell over, then he charged at the other guys with the knife, slicing and cutting them mercilessly. He held Jacob with one arm and was ready to fight the rest.

JK throws his phone against the wall, being crazy, which makes Rosalia flinch. "It's not true! Someone is intentionally framing me! Please, JK, believe me." It was the quiet certainty, the conviction of a man who believed his possessiveness was devotion. “You’re scaring me, Jacob,” I whispered. He reached up, brushing a tear from my face with his thumb, his eyes softening for a fraction of a second. “Good,” he murmured. “Fear keeps you safe.” Then he turned away. “You won’t see Draven again,” he said, voice final. “If he comes near this house, I’ll kill him myself.” The words punched the air from my lungs. “Jacob, don’t...” He looked back at me, his gaze sharp as glass. “You think I won’t? I’d burn this whole forest down before I let him take you.”

And no future for us. I turned to go inside. He grabbed my hand, eyes wild with panic. "No. I'm not letting go. You're coming back with me—I'll do better, I swear." His grip was brutal. I yelped. "Let go!" I fought him off, but he wouldn't move. That's when Noah lost it. He jumped out of the car and socked Jacob straight in the jaw. "You jerk! Ever heard of respecting women?!" Jacob, fueled by rage, swung back. "Who even are you?! This has nothing to do with you!"
