My moment in the spotlight, and not in the way I’d ever imagined. “Good morning ladies and gentlemen,” I began. “My name is Delilah Knight, and I am Mr. Knight’s wife. "I, Castor Roman, Alpha of the Greater Augusta Pack, reject you, Delilah Corrigan, as my mate and Luna." It felt like someone had plunged a knife into my chest, twisting it until I couldn't breathe. The pain was instant, searing through me like fire, burning everything inside me.

My palms were sweating bad at the thought of losing this job.

But unfortunately, some of us have a bit of poison running through their veins—metaphorically speaking, of course.” Caleb shot me a glare that could burn through steel. Jon’s gaze sharpened. “Enough.” That single word was colder than winter. I shut my mouth instantly, even if my blood boiled at how easily he silenced me. Jon took a slow breath, then clasped his hands behind his back. “As you both know, Delilah is gone. She left the country with Thorne.” I shrugged. “Good for her. One less ghost haunting this family.” “Silence!”

her voice dropped down to a cold and dark whisper, "unless you pose a threat to us or have tried to hurt Dorian." I groaned loudly, "You two, please stop acting so childish and let me talk to her." Adeline opened her mouth to protest but then clamped it shut when I threw a warning glare at her. When both the adult kids quieted down, I took a step toward the terrified witch and introduced myself politely, "Hi, I am Delilah Dimitri." She already knew that information but I thought it to be the best way to start the conversation. Her fear-filled eyes were still fixated on my shoulder as she nodded her head once, "I am Victoria Delgado."

"I didn't want you to find out this way." "Well, I did." I scoffed again. "You even told him that your name is Camila. Why the fuck would you even do that?" "Because I don't want him to know I'm Delilah! I don't want him to find out that I am his assistant's daughter."

I nodded. "I'll find her." He said and walked out. Just as he did, Hailey ran in. "Oh my, it's true." She gasped as she saw Delia lying unconscious. "How? Who did do this to her?" I didn't answer. My mind was thinking of how I was going to deal with Fallon. She was a threat to me and I couldn't risk losing anybody because of her stupid obsession. I was so sure that she was the culprit. My phone rang. It was Javan.

I want to express the words, but emotion is forcing them down. Grayson pulled away, holding my shoulders back so he could look at me. Reilly never hit me once. No one did. That's not what I was there for, so I could tell that Grayson was relieved to see no marks on me. "What happened? Why? Who do I have to kill?" His questions came at me like wild fire, and I had to take a moment to assess what to tell him. "A man I used to work with. His name is Reilly. He wanted me to be apart of his stupid uprising," I tell him. Grayson's face immediately darkens.
