I'm ready for sleep, but first, I'm going to start this new romantic book about demons. Humming to myself, I leaf through the introduction pages but find myself drawn to the cover image. It's somewhat distracting. There is a shirtless demon daddy on the first page. He has dark hair, blazing eyes and a nice tattoo on his chest. I giggle as my fingers touch his abs. "Of course, you have a six-pack..." I mutter. "You must be heavily retouched. Men like this don't exist in real life, but damn, whoever designed you sure was talented..."

At the center of the cover lies a raised symbol: a drop of blood, intricately detailed, as if about to trickle down the cover, appearing almost alive. The clasp of the book is a masterpiece of brutality and symbolism. Made of heavy metal, it is adorned with tiny skulls and bones, reminders of the lethal power contained within the tome. The clasp seems to demand a blood pact to be opened, with a small blade embedded, ready to make the necessary cut. When I finally open the Bloodbound Codex, I feel the temperature around me drop abruptly, as though the very air had been sucked into the book. On the page was a man with horns on his head and a long tail. “So, a demon is usually a very strong being. One who will use tricks and magic to punish anyone who makes them angry. Many people are afraid of them, because they are really strong and don’t show mercy to their enemies.”

Taking my shirt off partially, I jabbed my nails into the top of my spine, pulling out my sword, Slayer Rhakis and summoned the portal to edge of The Demon Realm. Stepping inside, my senses were clear, smelling the first wave of demons a few miles away into hell. I waited patiently, pacing back and fourth and focusing my ears on Hunnie and Kris as I leaned against the cold and icy, black flesh of a pillar. The Realm's bridge was as wide and long as a football field and made up of squirming flesh. All around the bridge was pitch black, the only light coming from the glowing floor of flesh under my feet and the demons portal from Hell.

I needed solid proof where I could get an idea of what was running through his mind. The drawers carried nothing so I looked through the cabinets. It was the same as the drawers, hardly anything important. Suddenly, my gaze fell on the souvenir placed on the table. It was an angel with wings and I wondered what something like this was doing inside a demon's room. It was odd. I picked it up and suddenly, a hidden cabinet appeared. I was shocked but amused too.

Her grandmother had always been interested in the supernatural, and Olivia knew that this book must have belonged to her. After she took the book with her, she went down from the attic and went to her grandmother’s old study room. Olivia then sat down at her grandmother's old desk, running her fingers over the cover of the book. It was ancient, the leather cover worn and frayed with age. She wondered how many people before her had touched this book, how many secrets it held. As she flipped through the pages, she couldn't help but feel a growing sense of unease. I shifted my chair next to him so I could see the page, maybe a little too closely because I saw his body tense up for a moment. "See? Here they start talking about archangels, then a few pages later they talk about demons and hell." I pointed at the pictures followed by the long paragraphs. "They look so pretty," I said as I looked at the page with the beautiful white creatures, then at him, and his eyes lit up again, but this time they were yellow. "How—how about demons?" he stuttered a little, and I turned to the next page.
