Her gaze shifted to the others in the room, her expression lightening with a touch of humor. “I see you haven’t quite forgiven your mates yet,” she teased, her eyes twinkling with warmth. I opened my mouth to respond, but she carried on before I could speak. She closed her eyes, taking a deep breath, her expression turning serious as she focused on me. “Your aura… it’s strong, intense, almost overpowering.” Her brows furrowed as she studied me, her hand gripping mine a bit tighter. “This magic you carry, Scarlett, it’s ancient and powerful. There are five core elements of magic—wind, earth, fire, water, and spirit. You carry all five.”

“Every mage, whether born in the slums or cradled in a palace, is born with an elemental affinity. It’s the signature of your mana—your core alignment.” With a flick of his fingers, glowing symbols flared into the air, rotating slowly in a circle: Fire, Ice, Lightning, Land, Water, and Wind. “These are the Primordial Elements—the most common, the most stable. Your affinity determines the kind of spells you naturally attune to, the type of mana you draw in, and the style you’ll fight with… or die by.” He paced slowly in front of the class. “But then—there are the Rareborn.”

I turned through the pages of the spell book with shaky hands until I finally settled on what I was searching for. “Thrakos, Demon of the Underworld, Lord of Hell,” I whispered, my fingers tracing the forbidden verse. “He who commands the forbidden flames of the devil's domain,” my voice grew louder, desperation etched in my eyes, "I call thee, Thrakos. I summon thee to the mortal realm. Kneel before–” The sound of thunder cracking cut me short before I could complete my words. The ground began to rumble and the circle I had engraved on the ground expanded outwards as dark smoke clouded the entire place.

Too embarrassed to even speak. Damien broke his gaze and turned around. “Your element is wind and lightning.” he said. “I have seen you in action. You seem to have mastered these two elements.” “A-actually...” Dorin confessed, “My lightning is still a bit erratic... the bands on my ankles actually help me control the release of thaum from my body.” Damien looked at the bands Dorin handed to him earlier. “Hmm... Althea’s work I presume?” he asked. Dorin nodded vigorously.

“Yes, but then, when we got here, after the attack started, Leo said he was going to stay back with Martin because he had a bad feeling about this, and he gave his shield to Aaron.” Jo continued to stare at Emma, along with everyone else, for a long moment. What she was saying didn’t make any sense. If her dad was wearing the shield, then there was no way that he could be dead--unless the material Emma had created didn’t work after all. “How do you explain the fact that Holland killed him then, Emm?” Cadon asked. “She’s a Vampire. Only scandium allows a Vampire to kill a Guardian.” “As far as we know,” Cassidy muttered.

“So what are they trying to accomplish?” “Well apparently there are seven elements that make up something super strong, they are not sure what you are yet, they are working on it.” She said chewing her food. “They thought making you bound to Dremis would help him find out more about you, but it just made you sick so nothing helped.” “Good, I thought he was going to be in my head.” She said taking a deep breath. “We need to get our magic shields up, make it harder for him to get to us again,”
