This part never fails to make me blush and feel terrible about myself. When the Alpha explained why he killed his Second Beta, he was upset to notice that not a lot of people appeared shocked by what he said. Meaning they knew very well what the Second Beta was up to. I wasn’t his only victim, after all. There were many more. And a lot of the generals were also doing what he did. Then, Denise said that the Alpha went ballistic after the First Beta made a comment about me. She refused to tell me what it was, so I wouldn’t feel bad, but it was bad enough that the Alpha shouted at him and threatened to have him reranked. This surprised me greatly.

After all, an Alpha visiting another territory was a big deal and the Alpha of the territory can deny the request easily owing to any reason, the simplest of it being security reasons… Well, let’s not make it any easier for her to deny my request then. I had heard so much about the pain that came after a rejection and I didn't want to go through that. "Are you out of your mind?" He grabbed me by the throat and squeezed hard. "You would die like a pauper here and no one would even bother to search for your remains."
