Alexander's POV** The stark, empty corridors of the building echoed with my hurried footsteps. My mind whirred with strategic calculations as I made my way to Derek’s body. Every decision from here needed to be precise and meticulous—any slip-up could mean chaos for our already fragile peace. I reached the room and paused for a moment before entering. “Paging Dr. Blackthorn to reception.” Ryleigh sat down and waited. A few minutes later, the double doors opened, and Derek stepped through, looking like he’d just walked out of a magazine. His white dress shirt was neatly tucked into charcoal slacks, and his doctor’s coat fell clean and sharp over his shoulders. His dark hair was slightly tousled like he’d run his hands through it between appointments. “Ryleigh,” he said, crossing the lobby. “What are you doing here?” “I wanted to surprise you.”

My eyes widened to see Derek walking towards us. With an elegant beauty by his side, he flexed his blue expensive suit in front of Xander, his voice laced with surprise. “Hey, Xander? Long time no see, buddy.” Although Xander never even bothered to greet Derek in college, that nosy detective rushed to meet him as if they were bosom buddies. I rolled my eyes at Derek’s Oscar winning performance as he met Xander. “How’s life going after divorce, buddy? Are you sleeping around just like you did before?”

"I see. Well, we should get you all cleaned up and head home. Come on, love." He offered me his arm like a gentleman, treating me with more respect and care than my own husband ever had. "Now wait just a minute," Stiles stepped forward, his face flushed with anger. "I don't know who you think you are, but—" Derek's fist connected with Stiles' jaw before he could finish the sentence. Stiles went down hard, and Annalise screamed. "I'm the man whose wife you were just watching get humiliated for your entertainment," Derek said calmly, flexing his knuckles. "And I suggest you stop coveting what doesn't belong to you before I decide to make this a real problem."

As they got to the spot, Derek turned to Aria and stared at her. Aria stared back at him, wondering why he was staring at her. “Derek,” Dominic called and he looked away from her. Aria looked at Dominic and recalled what Stiles said. She glanced at Dalvin who was on his phone and stared back at Dominic. There is no way they were so close the way Stiles said they were, they wouldn't even look at each other. Is Stiles lying? But if it's true, what could have caused the fight between them? And why do Derek and Dean not like him too?

"No. I like them this way. It's one of the few things about my life I have control over. I've always liked wearing them this way." Noelle squeezed my hand in understanding, "I was just teasing. You look amazing, period." My stomach was doing a jerky little nervous dance as we went down the stairs. Derek was crouched in front of the big fireplace getting the fire started. He was wearing jeans, but his shirt was faux suede that matched his blue eyes. He turned to look at us and sort of froze. Slowly, with the grace of a huge cat, he got to his feet and came over to where we stood at the foot of the stairs.

He looked horrible. He was disgusted when he saw his image in a mirror. Alexia was almost on the verge of tears when she saw Stiles. She was unable to concentrate on her meeting and Martin had to take over from where she was stopped. " I know that I look horrible." He said and she shook her head. "No, don't say that. You are just fine." Her voice shook as she spoke the words. Stiles looked at his reflection and gave a self-deprecating smile. " I can see myself. I'm not delusional. I think I am dying." He replied. It was the truth.

Derek’s voice came through low, steady, threaded with static. “You see it?” Derek asked. “I see it,” Chris said quietly. “He’s pushing through Meridian East first.” “That’s not the real exit,” Derek replied. “It’s a decoy. He always does that.” Chris smiled faintly. “Still hiding behind habits.” “Still thinking no one’s watching.” Chris leaned forward, fingers hovering over the keyboard. “Talk me through it.” On the other end, Derek exhaled. Chris could picture him—sleeves rolled up, glasses off, eyes sharp with that familiar mix of frustration and loyalty.

I looked at my stained hand and flushed, catching the drill, he laughed and took a seat at the table. “Hello sir, I’m Xavie, it’s nice to meet you.” I noticed Kian was signing something to him but the minute he saw that I knew, he stopped. Derek just laughed at him before once more paying attention to me. “Sir?” He scoffed. “You’re family now, just call me Derek and ignore your husband's grumpy ass.”
