Dante closed the ledger, his hand resting on the cover. He said nothing. Not yet. The warehouse emptied one shadow at a time until only Dante remained. He leaned against the steel table, the ledger closed beneath his palm. His mind turned the revelation over like a blade. Valentina. Cruz’s daughter. The irony bit deep. Cruz, his oldest enemy, had left a legacy in the world without even knowing it. And now she was here—in Dante’s world, in Dante’s bed of fire, bound to him by chance and by choice.

I walked up to one of the chairs and sat down. I opened the book and the first lines got me interested immediately.

The moment Jaine spoke about this sunken kingdom, her heart started to beat rapidly. “Only the descendants are allowed to read the book, each race has a copy, and as far as I have heard, no one would be willing to tell who holds the book now since it is considered a treasure, a blessing and a curse to be entrusted with the book. I was only able to read it since I was once a descendant, but after I failed to shift into a full-grown bear, I was cast out of the kingdom, even when I am the direct descendant of their late king.”

The enchantress announced before giving Alpha Romero a meaningful glance. The leader of the pack nodded while his wife, Calliope gently and assuringly squeezed on his arms before letting him walk away to present himself in the middle of the crowd. “With that being said, I, Alpha Romero Muller, leader of the Crescent Walkers announces my plans of carrying out my legacy towards my first born son, Morgan Muller.” Morgan’s eyes widened in disbelief as he heard the news straight from his father’s lips. He momentarily felt happiness surge into his heart before a thought hit him.

A moment later, Amira stepped into the room and Zalakai let out a whistle. "Me oh my. May I?" He extended his hand out to it. Amira hesitated as she looked at Willow. The Witch shrugged and nodded for her to go on. Amira passed over the book to Zalakai, who ran his fingers over the cover as if he was familiar with it. "Now, how did you end up here, of all places?" "Do you know this book?" Aiden asked him. "Know it?" Zalakai gave a small laugh. "Boy, I was there when it was written." He flipped it open and skimmed through the empty pages. "Ah, she was good, that one. No soul on Earth could read it unless it is a direct descendant."

“There seems to be no apparent pattern. How long would it take you to run a list of names through your genealogy database, Eliza?” She answered confidently, quickly. “Not but a few minutes. Tres helped me made an easily searchable database that allows me to put in sever search queries at once.” Eliza rose from the sofa and raced down the hallway, shouting, “I’ll be right back,” over her shoulder. Romero cleared her throat. “Robert, do you mean to tell me that you think someone may be specifically targeting the descendants of gods?” “That may very well be the case, but we’ll know for sure as soon as Eliza runs the names through the database she has been compiling of all known descendants.”
