But Dad, I'm Already Dead

But Dad, I'm Already Dead

There was my favorite action figure, the toy race car I had saved up my allowance for a long time to buy, and the crooked family portrait I drew. Grandpa lit a fire in the brazier and gently placed the items into the flames, one piece at a time. The fire licked at my treasured belongings, warping and curling them in the heat before reducing them to ash. As Grandpa burned them, he murmured through tears, "Ewan, I'm sending you all the things you love, so you won't be lonely over there. My good boy, your life was too bitter this time… In the next life, make sure you open your eyes wide and find a good family. Be a carefree, happy little boy, okay? I'll come to join you very soon…"

A LOVE LIKE OURS

A LOVE LIKE OURS

He didn’t blink. “There’s something buried beneath our bloodline. Something they once called a gift. But it’s not. It’s a curse. We see too much. Feel too deep. Remember too long. And the Descendants — they use that. They take children like you. Like Tristan. They dig their claws into your memory and twist it until you forget who you are. That’s what they want for Cara.” The voice crackled.

Never go to a tattoo artist if bad luck is following you

Never go to a tattoo artist if bad luck is following you

The only ones not participating are my mom, since she's completely sober, and Jace, who's too busy filming us. When the song ends, I get an idea. I grab Grandpa's phone, which is already connected to the speaker, and play just the instrumental of "Occidentali's Karma," without the lyrics. I climb onto the coffee table next to the sofa and stand on it, praying with all my might that it doesn't break. There are already manholes threatening my poor, unlucky life. We don't need possessed coffee tables or paintings too. All the relatives are watching me. I wait for the chorus to start and begin singing, but the words are completely different from the original song.

The Moon's Descendant

The Moon's Descendant

she said plugging in her phone and turning up the volume. A soft pop song started to play, I hadn’t heard it before, but then again, I haven’t heard a lot of songs before. We headed off down the dirt driveway, it was long and windy, zigzagging through the trees. We came out onto the main road and sped up towards the city. I was gazing out the window at the forest as Smith and Nat sang along to the songs on the stereo. Gunner took my hand and lifted it to his lips kissing it and held onto it resting it on his lap. I turned around and looked at Nat, she smiled still singing, Smith was doing a little air guitar and Cole sat quietly looking out his window. The drive felt pretty quick, we even pl

The story is really good! The writer seemed to be learning how to tell the story from two perspectives. At first the author rewrote whole scenes but listened to readers and adapted it a little better. Still some time jump with perspective changes. Zelena has so many powers it seems a lil contrived.

You Deserve

You Deserve

She did not want to waste any time for whatsoever reason. “Papa!!! Mama!!! Come down soon. It is getting for the flight!!” Amity screamed loudly. Emily came downstairs, carrying her personal bag. She was tired of controlling her daughter. “Calm down, Amy. You are behaving like you are traveling to meet your long lost boyfriend,” Emily said. Amity giggles at her mother’s words, “I don’t mind if it is Ethan. He is sooooo handsome.” Ethan, who was still on the other end of the phone chuckled hearing Amity and Emily’s conversation.

Burning It All Down

Burning It All Down

The pair berated one another while they fought, revealing every wrongdoing they had done throughout the years. The more Derek listened to them, the more crestfallen he became. He thought of the five babies he'd caused Nicole to miscarry over the years. He murdered his own children and hurt me—the woman who loved him. Right at this moment, one of his subordinates charged into the room. He yelled, "Bad news, boss! The estate's basement caught on fire, and Mrs. Church is still locked up underground!"

When Love Descends Into Darkness

When Love Descends Into Darkness

I never truly understood the power Mom and Dad held until they brought me home. Even if the Lawson family multiplied tenfold, they still wouldn't have come close. The estate before me looked like an actual castle, complete with multiple grand gates just to get inside. By some twist of fate, Dad's last name was also Sinclair, so I didn't even have to change mine. The Sinclair family was centuries old, with its influence stretching globally. But for all its wealth and power, it was a bloodline that ran surprisingly thin.

The Song of Us

The Song of Us

Iris took a sip of her drink and said, "From your expression, I think you have a favor to ask of me. No need to tell me what it is. I've liked you since you were little. I gave you the pendant purely out of my fondness for you. Still, I can't blindly agree. I need to know your ability." At this, Selene understood her line of thinking and smiled. "How do you wish to test me?" "I've lived in Canmir long enough to see the struggles of this land. My heart goes out to the people here, but I have no power to change anything. Today, let Canmir itself be your test," Iris proposed. She paced around slowly and said, "If you can resolve the famine here, I'll help you." … Three years later, on the eve o

Forever Yours

Forever Yours

As soon as the song came up, I shut my eyes, took a deep breath, and started to move naturally to it. With my ancestral lineage spanning from Irish to African, and Mexican, I have the arrogant belief that I should be able to pull this off. I imitated the first dancers’ moves then the Catwoman, interchanging as I prowled and moved my body slithering to the tune. I treated the pole as one would a lover, moving against it like a dance partner you want to give your all to, and it was especially easy when his image invaded my head and his smile made my heart leap. In a painful pleasure, I used his memory to achieve my aim and when I finally stopped, breathing hard, to look at the girls they were
