Setting my satchel down on a nearby table, I pulled out the spell book and flipped to the chapter on protection. The symbols and instructions stared back at me looking very foreign. I ran my fingers over the pages, tracing the intricate designs as I whispered the first few words of the spell. He countered as he turned the pages. "Why do you have it if it was supposed to be burnt? And what type of book of spells is this?" She asked. "It has been passed down from generation to generation, my great-great found it under a burnt house 150-200 years ago. It is said to hold powers, but up until now I've seen nothing." He hesitated, "This is the Ginnak book of spells," "Ginnak? What's that?" She asked, totally confused. Robert raised his head from the book and glared at her, "I can't believe you haven't been paying attention these few days," Lexi put on a fake pleading expression and Robert scowled.

She suspected her mother had locked them away but wasn’t completely sure. Ivy unclasped and opened the old book. She felt a wave of energy pass onto her. I pulled it out carefully and set it on my lap. The leather cover was cool under my fingers. Old. Well worn. I opened to the first page. Cornelius had been right. The book was a record of great families. Their histories, their achievements, their bloodlines traced back through generations. I flipped past the introduction, past the table of contents. The pages were thick, slightly yellowed with age. Someone had written in the margins in places. Notes in different hands, different inks. I found the section on witches and warlocks.

“Zephyr made a huge discovery on his grimoire.” At Lizzie’s cue, Zephyr placed the book that was beside him at the table. He opened it and turn the pages until he had reached the end of the book. It was blank. There were no writings on the last page, it was not even a page, it was the void space at the back of the cover. “What about it?” Amilia asked. “Look, the story ended saying about the heritage of the girl that was cursed. There was no next page when we read it but see this.”

He reached into the symbol, pulling out an old leather bound book. "This, my dear, is a very important grimoire, it's written in ancient Irish Gaelic. Duibhne will have to read it and explain what it says. The book contains all of your Shadowsoul bloodline spells and curses, including the remedies," he said solemnly as he slid the large book across the table to me. I was about to touch the old book when my mother invaded my thoughts screaming about the grimoire.

He was moving pretty slowly, but I could tell something was off about his vibe. He didn't accept what was written in that book, and that made the atmosphere here tense again. But he'd just smiled a moment ago. "Kael..." I called out to them gently. He didn't answer right away, he was still looking at the book. "The first descendant of the cursed soul will be the final gate." He spoke clearly and loudly, explaining the meaning of the ancient text to me, his gaze grew sharp because I knew Kaelith was holding back his emotions, which had suddenly surged.

Walking up and standing next to him, Sebestian just watched as Damon opened the heavy book and started flipping through the pages. "I was looking for something to explain what happened to you, I started back when Fred was trying to lift the spell and" he dragged the last word as he kept on skimming through "I found this instead" he said as he stopped on a page and then tapped his finger against it. The book looked old based on how it was bound, but it looked even older once he saw the inside. The pages weren't paper but instead looked like handwoven fabric or leather that now looked yellow and worn, the writing was clearly some thick mud-like paint that had turned green over time.
