I dried my hands on a towel, then looked at him square in the eyes.
“Was Leah right?”
He didn’t flinch. “About what?”
“Geneva. The burner scandal. What you did to protect me.”
His jaw clenched, but he said nothing.
“That’s a yes,” I said quietly.
“She’s twisting the story.”
“So tell me the real one.”
He exhaled slowly and sat down on the bench near the closet, elbows on his knees, head bowed like he was preparing for confession—or execution.
“She wasn’t wrong about Geneva,” he began. “There was a leak tied to Bermudez’s offshore division. The press got wind of it… and your name was attached because your design files were on the same server. Not your fault. A setup, probably.”
