“Welcome to Naples.” I ignored his hand, my eyes locked on his, my smile tight. “Let’s skip the pleasantries, Donato. Where’s my money?” He laughed, a low chuckle, his lieutenants joining in, their eyes darting between each other. “Always so serious, Lucian. How about you just relax and have a drink?” He gestured to a bottle of bourbon on the table, three glasses already poured. “We celebrate first, then business.”

It was all just a little too much. Caleb pulled out his phone and sent Warren a text and told him about Alaina showing up at his house. He needed a drink. He went into the kitchen and grabbed a glass and grabbed the bottle of bourbon instead of whiskey. He got a couple of ice cubes out of the freezer and tossed them into the glass then poured the bourbon on top of the ice. He drank the contents of the glass in one drink, then poured some more.

We’ve stopped inside a large and welcoming study, books line one wall, a bookcase with a ladder to help you reach the tallest part. I look around at the antique wood. Admiring the desk and the sash windows. “What time is dinner?” I ask. “Whenever Celeste arrives,” he smiles. I feel somethings off in that moment, his smile unwelcoming and malicious but I do not fall for his trickery, nodding whilst walking to the small handmade bar. There liquor of all ages, names and types. And I look through everything before deciding on an old bourbon. “Good choice,” Zeus agrees, turning over two tumblers to serve us each a healthy glass.

He asked pointing at a book. "It's a book I stole a long time ago from the vampire royal library." Nichole responded. "I felt the head of the queen's guard should know about her absolute enemy. I'll leave it for you all to read it. Since the last Blue Moon wolf was born I have collected a lot of things to fight that blood-sucking bastard." She said with such fury I swore I saw heat radiate from her. "Thank you, Nichole." I said sitting up. "No need for thanks. I treasure your existence as much as Selene does. It is my duty as her closest friend." She said with a bow and left the office.

I asked in a low voice, curiosity mixing with confusion. Conor flashed a big smile, showing off his pearly whites—something I hadn't seen much of. He looked so large and at ease sitting on that barstool, and when our eyes met, I found his energy oddly entertaining. "So, there’s this beer called Stella Artois. And if you want to spice things up, you order a shot of Jack Daniels with it, which they call a Jack Backer. Whiskey, in my opinion, is just good for the soul." He drifted into thought, his gaze momentarily distant, as if he was pondering something beyond the conversation. "And what about the Surfer on Acid?" I asked again, my grin turning a bit crooked as I tried to keep up with him.

His eyes shone crimson as he licked his blood strained lips. "This". He held the glass. Leaning back into Stephen’s chest sniffing his neck. It soothed him. Relaxed him. "Good one Callum . It’s a deer. You sure you want this"? Saint reconfirmed. Callum nodded a yes and the next moment they all gasped when Saint took all shots bottom up. "Yumm". They all laughed looking at him enjoying the treat. "Someone taking lessons. Wow. It’s not so you Stephen". Suddenly the door opened to Zol and they all were shocked.

Living room and bedroom separated. They went inside. Lorenzo went straight to the minibar. Pulled out whiskey. Poured two glasses. Handed one to Kyrian. "I don't—" Kyrian started. "Drink. We both need it." Kyrian drank. The whiskey burned. Good burn. Grounding. Lorenzo drained his glass in one go. Poured another. "You're going to make yourself sick," Kyrian said. "I don't care."Lorenzo sat on the couch. Head in his hands.

Logan protested. "Look," Conan said firmly. He kneeled next to the grieving detective and put his hand under Logan's chin and tilted it upward. "I've had to deal with a lot of gruesome deaths in my line of work. Trust me, you'll be relieved." Before the detective knew it, Conan dragged him off the scene. He tried to resist but Conan only shoved him down until they were beside the little girl once again. Who knows if she had witnessed what happened to her mother?

Luigi asked, ignoring Giovanni's speech. “I'm not here because of any fucking request,” Giovanni replied, the pitch of his tone increasing every second. He put his hands into his pockets and Luigi watched him with keen interest. He hesitated before producing a gun from his left pocket and dropping it on the table. He took a seat in front of Luigi and relaxed in the chair. “Whiskey or wine?” Luigi asked, already getting up from his seat. “Bourbon whiskey,” Giovanni replied. Luigi returned with a bottle of bourbon whiskey and placed it in front of Giovanni before returning to take his seat.

I’m sounding more and more stagy, but Lottie is on such a roll, she doesn’t notice. “So then they give us all this free booze to apologize, and this concierge guy bets Ben that he can’t drink some special Greek cocktail. Next thing, he’s downed the whole thing and everyone in the bar is cheering and he’s practically comatose! I mean, what was in it? Absinthe?” I dread to think what was in it.
