“You can’t keep her from me!” Devon’s reply was a guttural growl. His jaws clamped down around Kyle’s neck. He didn’t hesitate. He bit through. The crunch was sickening. Kyle’s scream died in a wet gurgle, blood flooding the ground as his body convulsed, then stilled. Devon tore his throat out entirely, lifting his head high with the kill, letting the sight burn into the memory of every survivor. The courtyard went silent for a heartbeat Kyle’s remaining wolves faltering, fear rippling through them. Then Devon’s warriors surged, cutting them down without mercy. The scent of death thickened, the ground littered with corpses.

But Rex hitted him hard and broke his right arm so he could not move his hand when Devil attacked him.
