Mason said giving me a you-got-yourself-into-this-mess look. “Fuck, I know. She knows how to play the part in front of the cameras though and not act like a kid in a candy store.” “Take that little thing you fucked the other night!” “Oh, no. The pack slut? Bad for my reputation. It is bad enough Michelle has ideas in her head but I can’t give them to her either.” “You know you would be stronger with a Luna anyway” Mason said shrugging his shoulders “Or weaker if she gets hurt. I can’t have a weak ass Luna!”

PROLOGUE The demonic love the taste of little girls. Luna Masterson went to her first sleepover when she was six, armed with a Superman sleeping bag and a pink pillow, pigtails and sour candies. Before she left, her dad pulled her onto his lap. “Sweetheart,” he said and looked worried. Even though she should have been too young to tell, Luna could see the anxiety running under the lines of his face. “You’re sleeping somewhere other than home tonight. And I know you see things in the dark . . . ”

It served as a cosmic sanctuary, where wisdom, guidance, and support were freely shared, nurturing the growth and transformation of souls on their authentic journeys. The essence of Luna's memoir transcended the written word, transforming into an ethereal resonance known as the "Luna Essence." This cosmic resonance carried the eternal wisdom and truth of authentic living, resonating with the vibrational frequency of each soul who sought to align with their true essence. The Luna Essence became a guiding light, illuminating the path of self-discovery and reminding beings of their innate value and power.

Luna chirped, flitting around Owen like a happy little bird, her voice bright and chirpy. But Owen paid her no mind. His eyes were locked on me, trailing after me step for step. I couldn’t help but stop and sigh deeply. "Owen, we’re divorced. What are you doing? What’s the point of following me like this?" Luna, clearly frustrated, tugged at Owen’s sleeve, irritated at being ignored. "Owen, don’t forget what you promised me." At her words, Owen flinched, his entire body seeming to deflate, and the light in his eyes dimmed instantly.

"Doesn't that mean more of your pack members will learn my secret?" "I plan on getting together my most trusted members." Mason explained. "This way I know that word won't get around to everyone. One day these will be your most trusted people too, don't forget that." Blushing Danica took in Mason's words. These people would be her most trusted people one day. He was referring to when she became Luna they would work under her as well as Mason. Still not sure how great of a Luna she would make Danica tried to keep her thoughts from going downhill, especially with how much faith Mason had in her.

Behind me, celebration continues, thousands of Moonborn and allied wolves marking twenty years of hard-won progress, genuine hope built from genuine trust across generations that once seemed destined only for persecution and fear. But standing here, alone in the darkness, watching where that golden-eyed stranger disappeared into shadows I once thought I understood completely, I understand something new is beginning, even as everything we spent decades building finally reaches this moment of genuine, celebrated completion. The Luna's return from exile is complete. But the world, I understand now, watching stars shine down on a supernatural community my daughter just connected more completely

Caleb's grin died when he saw Mason's face. "Before you speak," Caleb said, "the Luna commanded-" "She commanded you to empty three subsidiary accounts during trading hours?" Mason dropped his ledger on the obsidian desk. The sound made Caleb flinch. "While the eastern caravans report bandit raids?" "She's the Luna." "She's a parasite." The inner door sighed open on enchanted hinges. Selene emerged from Jaxon's chamber, wearing a gown the color of fresh blood. She moved differently now - looser, hungrier. Something had changed her. Mason had watched her face that night, standing in the rain six yards from the scene, waiting for confirmation that Lumira Duskbane was truly dead.

She hated being ordered around, especially not by me, but if I wanted to remain unrecognized, then it had to be this way. “The rumors are true,” the man on the podium went on, “He has demons living inside of him, he is no longer the leader we choose, he is a demon possessed!” the man screamed and some nodded in agreement, this only fueled him on. “The Luna was a good woman, her love for the pack was genuine. I saw the way she cared for our little ones, she never had a child of her own, but she loved them like they were hers; she devoted her time to help them get better education, she contributed to their wellness—she was a goddamned angel.” I almost snorted at that.

"Then why is he free?" "Because politics is ugly." I hated saying those words. "I couldn't prove enough under pack law without dividing the council." She looked shaken. "He targeted unmated women." She took in a deep breath, probably battling with the choice she made. "And now," I said quietly, "you're the Luna." Her face lost its color. "He offered me a ride because Ana said he was trustworthy." "I'll deal with Ana and Brenda later." I stepped closer. "Mason doesn't help women out of kindness."

Requested the men I swore I’d never use again. Not for her. For me. That’s what I told myself. But in the shadows, under all the ice, I already knew the truth. She’s not free. Not yet. And if I have to burn Colombia to the ground, I’ll remind her… Luna Rojas doesn’t run from Misha Petrov. She returns. On her knees.
