An Eye for a Bullet
He walks right up to me and nuzzles his face into my midsection.
"There must be some misunderstanding," says Dexter quickly.
He stands and starts to move closer. I raise my gun at him and he stops.
"I'm leaving, and you're not stopping me," I say.
I gently push Rupert off me. He whines and tries to get closer. I don't let him.
"You may leave, but know that I'm telling the truth. Dane wasn't with Heather," replies Dexter smoothly.
"It wouldn't matter," I say simply, "I've sealed myself off from him and everybody else. You can't make me love him. And soon this place will be nothing but a memory to me."
