If anything, they looked like two people who’d figured out how to become friends after realizing they couldn't stay married. Which somehow made the whole thing worse, because there was history there…real history, and years of it. They shared a marriage, a home, and a daughter. Those were things I couldn't compete with even if I’d wanted to.
