Does Gideon Die Novels & Stories

"Remember David Patterson? A man in his fifties who died just a few months ago after swallowing wolfsbane even though his life was going well, and there was no reason for him to kill himself?" She clutched her stomach, sweat beading on her forehead. "Yes." "Remember the Quinn family? Peaceful people that had a fire accident and were all wiped out?" Davina looked how I felt inside— sick. "Those stories, Davina. None of them were true. Those were cover ups for the people Gideon murdered. The people that dared to ask questions. The people that dared to challenge his authority." She walked to a wall, and let herself slide down it, hands holding the sides of her head like it was too heavy for her

Her eyes met mine for a fraction of a second before she left. Gideon remained. His gaze moved between Colton and me, lingering where my hand steadied Colton’s wrist. “A human healer,” he muttered. “That will either save this pack or split it open.” Colton’s voice hardened. “Enough.” But I looked at Gideon before he could leave. "What is it you refuse to tell me?" Grace’s eyes opened. Colton’s hand turned under mine. Gideon looked at me for a long moment. Then he said, “There was a death.”

“So how did he stop?” “I punched him in the face, knocked him out cold, and carried him out,” Marik spoke out behind me. I didn’t even bother to look at him, the kid would have been easy to knock out, I wasn’t going to praise him for saving me, at least not until I knew how they’d fuck up. “So, Gideon’s dead?” “Yes,” Traian replied. “Great, so what’s the problem?” “Mother escaped.”

“Or he wants a clean shot.” “Probably both,” Gideon admitted. “But he’s desperate. You’ve hit him too hard.” I studied him. “And you? What do you want?” “To not die,” he said honestly. “And maybe... to be on the winning side.” “Smart man.” Ace stepped forward. “We’ll think about it.” Gideon’s expression shifted. “Think fast. He’s not patient.” Esther kicked the table. “Neither are we.” --- After we dumped Gideon in the cellar—medicated and muttering—we gathered around the kitchen table. Maps, blueprints, radio static, and half-drunk coffee. War room vibes.

*** Years later, I was at the mall with Henry, holding our daughter in my arms. That was when I saw Gideon—or someone who looked like him—behind the counter at a fast-food place. I looked again to be sure, but he pulled his cap low and turned away. And just like that, I understood. The boy who once meant everything to me—he was gone. Time had buried him. The Gideon standing there now was just another man worn down by life. Stella squirmed in my arms, babbling, "Mommy, what are you looking at? Do you want a burger too?"

How would Cindy react when she discovered she had caused her own father's death? Just as I was about to answer, several uniformed police officers walked into the room. "Are you Ian Jowett? We've received a report that you were involved in a hit-and-run. You need to come with us to the precinct."

His hand fell back down, and he took one last gasp, then he went still. Sorry? “Sorry for what?” My voice was barely above a whisper as I stared at his calm, emotionless face. He was dead. I wouldn't be receiving any answer. Zane was my only hope out of the life I was in. Now, what was I supposed to do?

“You do not get to give orders after casually revealing your compliance mother in the woods.” “I did not reveal her casually.” “Great. We disagree on tone.” Theodore’s eyes stayed on the road. “Why didn’t you tell me?” Gideon did not answer immediately. The car rolled over mud and gravel, tires hissing on the wet road. Finally, he said, “Because I believed she was dead.” “Not good enough.” “No,” Gideon agreed. “It is not.” The honesty did not help. Violet hated honesty when it arrived too late to be useful.

“Okay now tell me what happened. Why would Miss Gideon leave you to come here alone and on foot? What is going on “ Eddy asked. He felt uncomfortable something bad might have happened. He didn’t know but it felt like he had to just get to know the real problem first. “Tell me okay,” he said assuring him with his voice that everything is going to be okay. Cain calmed himself and said, “Miss Gideon was killed. She committed suicide “ This frightened him. Eddy was struggling to bring out his words. He didn’t know how she could sue just like that. She was perfectly healthy and now she just died.

"He has the recording of Darius ordering Hayes's murder." Miller nodded grimly, motioning for his team to bag the killer's pockets. "Darius is already surrounded at his mother's estate. It's over, Creighton." Gideon spat blood onto the concrete as two officers hauled him to his feet. A wet, dark laugh rattled out of his chest, echoed by the rain drumming against the warehouse roof. "You think you won, Cross?" Gideon rasped, his cold grey eyes flashing with manic delight despite the steel cuffs around his wrists. "You think securing this room fixes anything?"
