It wasn’t my place to be in on this conversation.
“Dallas, baby, don't leave,” River murmured. He looked up at me.
I hesitated but slowly took a seat at the small kitchen table.
“Willow, there are some things that have happened since you were home last,” River said. River looked at Bonnie.
Bonnie had her hands folded on the table and stared down at them.
“What?” Willow asked impatiently.
River seemed at a loss for words.
“I have cancer. It’s stage four, pancreatic cancer to be exact,” Bonnie said. Bonnie looked up at her daughter, sadly. “The doctor gave me three to twelve months to live, and that was about a month ago.”
