"You went back in there alone?" she exclaimed, her voice tinged with concern. "You should have known that it was all Ricardo's doing. He would definitely want to come for you next! She had her head bowed into the surface of her palms and she was crying. I was shocked and unconsciously moved forward to her. But then Lee stood before her, showing a posture of protection. “Lily, you shouldn’t hurt Lisa any further! Lee started, ignoring the shock and hurt on my face. “I,Lee Evans, reject you, Lily Alderwood.”

When I feel the electricity racing down my arm, I slam the sword into the ground, sending waves of energy and electricity into the earth, and rolling toward Lorelai’s army. Before my power reaches them, I see Lily pull the strength of Dominic and Tialha into her own body before blowing it out in her own wave of power. Between the two, Lorelai’s army is caught and as our two power sources collide, Lorelai’s army disintegrates into ash. As I begin walking toward them, I see Lily turn, making sure everyone with her is alright. When she turns and sees me a smile breaks out across her face. “Aolis!”

Richard had been putting on a calm front just moments ago, but his face turned pale in the next second. In his disbelief, he grabbed Tyson’s collar. “What did you say? Say that again!” Lily tried to grab him, but he pushed her to the floor. “What did you say happened to Anna?!” Richard’s eyes were bloodshot. At the sight of Richard acting like that, Lily could no longer hide the hatred in her eyes. But she still put on a sympathetic face.

A voice cuts through the noise. “Zoey? Are you okay?” Raven rushes to my side. I look up to see Lucien dragging Lily off me, her smug grin wide and disgusting. “You’re not supposed to hurt anyone!” Raven snaps. Her eyes shimmer faintly, and suddenly the crowd begins to retreat, warily. “It’s training. People get hurt,” Lily shrugs. “I told you I could handle it.” She flashes a victorious smirk at Matilda before sauntering off. Lucien extends a hand and helps me up. My head throbs. My pride aches even more.

“Ryder, enough.” Ryder just laughed, stretching his arms lazily. “Relax, brother. I’m just having a little fun.” Hunter turned to me, concern in his eyes. “What did he do?” I shook my head. “Nothing.” Ryder tsked. “Lying again, Lily?” I sent him a death glare. “Unlike you, I have better things to do than play mind games.” He smirked. “Oh, but you love my games, don’t you?”

Jade and Ceynol stood back-to-back, scanning the smoke-filled air. A faint click of heels against the pavement running towards them. A whisper of fabric shifting. Then— Lily’s voice, barely above a whisper. “You should’ve killed me when you had the chance.” Ceynol turned, his gun trained on the sound— a loud bang was heard. Lily thought she could be sharp with Ceynol and Jade. Jade may be a good woman but, for her child she could be worse than the devil. Lily staggered, her breath coming out in a sharp, choked gasp.

The clinical, corporate armor they both wore so effortlessly lay shattered on the floor between them. ​"Ryan," she whispered, her voice a breathless, vulnerable vibration against his skin. "What do we do now?" ​Before he could answer, the glass door didn't just open—it practically rattled off its hinges. ​"Vennessa, you need to see this right now, I don't care who is—" Lily burst into the room, her laptop held out like a shield. She froze mid-sentence, her eyes darting from Vennessa’s flushed face and smudged lipstick to Ryan’s rolled-up sleeves and completely unraveled posture. A sharp, stunned gasp left Lily's lips. "Oh. As I ripped at him, Lily turned to jump into my fight, having killed her rogue. Pulling the rogue’s head clear of his body, Lily and I went back to fighting. I could tell she was getting tired and running on adrenalin. As Jared rounded the trees, he moved toward Lily taking the rogue who had her pinned down. As I see Lily move, I see her back leg is wounded. I kill the rogue I am fighting with to move toward Lily. I see another rogue start to take aim at her. She has her back toward him, looking at her wounded leg. Yelling through our mind-link for her to look out, I slide in front of her to take the brunt of attack. As Lily jumps up yelling through the mind-link, I feel jaws clamp on
