Dominic had been pacing the length of his chambers for several minutes when a firm knock sounded at the door. He stopped abruptly. “Come in.” The heavy wooden door opened, and Elder Orion stepped inside. The elderly healer bowed respectfully before lifting his head. “You sent for me, Your Majesty.” “Yes,” Dominic motioned toward the door. “Close it.” Without asking questions, Orion obeyed. The latch clicked softly into place, sealing the room in silence. When he turned back, Dominic was already pacing again, one hand pressed against his temple. The worst of the headache had passed, but the memory of what had happened at River Rock refused to leave him.
