Yes I might not have been too keen to recommend a book to him but since he’s already exhausted me with his weird antics it definitely wouldn’t hurt to sell him one of our most expensive books. My fingers hover over the keys as I wait but I could still feel it, the biting cold that never left my skin. Seeing as he’s still standing still I move stretching on tip toe as I take the book from him this time. His fingers brush mine again by accident or not accident, I can’t tell anymore but I react faster now, pulling back before I could sit with that cold too long. His touch still lingers though, like it doesn’t fully leave even when contact is broken.

Zephyr reached for it, his heart pounding in his chest like it'd fly out the very next mimite. The second his fingers grazed the cover, the room shuddered.

“Are you going to buy something?” He tapped the book against the counter. “Maybe. Maybe I just like the atmosphere.” His gaze dragged over her deliberately. “Or the company.” Her fingers clenched beneath the counter. “Then you’re wasting your time.” He chuckled, deep and amused. “Am I?” Silence stretched between them. Thick. Suffocating. And then— His hand reached out, the briefest brush of his fingers against hers as he slid the book forward. The touch was fleeting, but it sent ice and fire through her veins. A reminder of what he was.
