“I… I was in yesterday. With Dr. Hanley.”
“Oh, hi, Leah,” she says, tone dipping into something more appropriately somber. “Yes, of course. How are you feeling today?”
“Confused,” I say bluntly.
A pause.
“All right,” she says carefully. “What can I help you with?”
“I’m going through my records,” I say, trying to keep my voice level. “And I found a consultation note from somewhere called the Aurelia Institute for Cognitive Research from eight months ago. It says I met with a Dr. Cortez and consented to being considered for a memory study.”
