Lucifer’s eyes glowed with an otherworldly purple light as he read aloud: “The Cult of Draconis Cor.” Uncle Lucifer said in a low rumbling growl.

“I thought maybe you’d been looking at them and wondered why they weren’t put back properly, since you’re usually so careful with them.” Viktor shook his head. “I haven’t had time to look at them in weeks.” He strode across the room and plucked a book from Stephan hand, checking the title. It was Lycanthropy. Raising the book to his nose, he took a sniff. A faint trace of Adriana's scent remained. Grimly, he clenched the book in his hand. “I think we have a problem.” ********

He was eager to get it over with but dreading it at the same time. Dracula stormed into the study, moving past Dragomir as if he wasn’t there. He didn’t stop until he’d reached his large mahogany desk at the far side of the room. He took a decanter of blood that Dragomir had the foresight to order brought in and filled an ornately gold trimmed crystal goblet. Dragomir waited for his father to down the blood before clearing his throat. “I am fully aware of your presence, Dragomir,” Dracula snapped. His eyes blazed a fiery red as he glowered at his eldest son. “It better be something good bringing you here. I have had a very bad start to my evening and do not wish for more irritation.”

I nodded and turned to the young, petite girl who was already gasping for breath.
