I was to get pregnant and then be killed by Bas. I had accepted my fate. My life was short, but it was well-lived, and for that, I was grateful. Walking out of the bathroom, I dressed and tied my hair into a messy bun. Sitting on my bed, I picked up the only book Darius had left me. Of all things, it was a geography book—a cruel irony in his claims not to let me die of boredom. I flipped through the pages, trying to focus on the text, but my mind wandered. The stark white pages were a contrast to the dark, suffocating thoughts in my head. Each page turned was a reminder of my confinement, the walls closing in on me.

Dear valued readers, I want to start by saying how deeply sorry I am for the long silence and mistakes in my book. I know how frustrating it must be to invest time and emotions into a story, only to be met with errors and inconsistencies. I initially ended the book on a good note, but I received feedback from some of you who wanted more. In my excitement to deliver, I rushed to create a draft and uploaded it in bulk without properly reviewing it. Unfortunately, this led to mistakes and hate comments that left me feeling discouraged and uninspired.

He sighs and reluctantly clasps his hands together. "I'm sorry." I chuckle loudly. "What exactly are you sorry for? For taking my underwear or for lying that they were not with you?" He shakes his head again. "I'm just sorry for everything." I shake my head, get up, dust my skirt and walk away from the living room. Apologies do nothing to me anymore, they're apologies without action.

Her lips trembled, opening and closing, as if searching for words that wouldn’t come. “Please, Vin... I’m sorry for behaving so dumb. Just let me go!” Sorry. My smile widened. That fucking word again. Sorry. So weak. So useless. It's what people cling to when they’re too pathetic to face the truth of their actions. The word disgusted me, like a disease that spread through weak minds, begging for forgiveness they didn't deserve. Does she even realize that "sorry" is my least favorite word? That it triggers something darker in me? One more time, and I might snap her neck for the sheer thrill of it.

Actually, no one deserves it. “I’m sorry for being such a dumb-ass, Drey. I’m sorry for hurting you so badly. I’m sorry for making you cry. And I would like to say sorry as early as now if I might do things in the future that you wouldn’t like. I promise, I’ll make it up to you and I will never stop until I make you happy. Actually, I won’t ever stop making up to you until the day I die.”

Gulping down my silver I reopen the book and hope what I read was just metaphorical. ___No tears can quench this feeling of dread and despair growing inside of me. I'm a bad person. I am bad. This is a letter before my death. If you find it, know that I deserved it. Grace, I'm sorry. Harvey, please take care of my sister. Take her out of here and protect her the way you protected me and mum, from 'him'.
