she said through tears, “then you know the answer. Our bond isn’t broken, it’s just tangled up in whatever magic this is. I love you.”
She drifted into a restless sleep, tears dampening the pillow. In her dream, she wandered through misty marshes, her footsteps rippling the water’s surface. Shadows of spirits watched her silently. Liam appeared beside her, his presence comforting. She turned and hugged him tightly, the warmth of it anchoring her. “My beautiful girl,” he murmured, running his fingers through her hair. “What are you doing here?”
“I want to stay here, Liam,” she whispered, refusing to let go.
