I approached Axel's cage in my dreamwalk form, drawn by the desperate way he continued to search for me. When I got close enough to touch the bars, Axel immediately pressed himself against them from the inside. His whimpering intensified, and those wild golden eyes locked onto mine with startling focus. "Can you really see me?" I whispered. On impulse, I reached out with my dreamwalk consciousness and touched his clawed hand through the bars. The moment we made contact, everything changed. Instead of just touching him, I felt myself being pulled into his mind. The dreamwalk took an unexpected turn, dragging my consciousness into the chaotic darkness of Axel's suppressed psyche.
